I have been looking for the pancake recipe that my mom used and i found this one to be the closest. I cut down on the baking powder by about 1/2 otherwise you can taste it.

I added 1 tbsp of white sugar and 1 tbsp of brown sugar. Then to cut some of the fat, I substituted apple sauce for the vegetable oil. The pancakes came out great :-)

These are great! I followed the suggestions of other reviewers & cut the baking powder back to 2 teaspoons, & cut the salt back a little as well. I've made these several times on Saturday mornings for my husband & have made minor additional changes (based on what I have on hand or what mood I'm in :)), but the basic recipe is very simple & delicious, especially for someone who doesn't keep pancake mix on hand.

I made a double batch,,I used two level tsp. baking powder,,one level tsp.salt and they turned out fine. The only thing I will contemplate changing in the future is maybe add a little less sugar to prevent scorching.

The main issue with this recipe is the lack of an acid. That's why so many of the reviewers cut down on the baking soda. Solution: Buttermilk. I used the allotted amount of baking soda, and replaced the milk with buttermilk. The cakes rose beautifully, and tasted nothing like baking soda. You could also have added a tablespoon or so of white vinegar or lemon juice to regular milk to get the same affect.

I made these pancakes exactly according to the recipe. I did beat the egg thoroughly. I thought about adding vanilla, but didn't. They came out great!

great base, but I think the author meant 2 tsp of baking powder. I used 2 tsp baking powder 2 tsp of butter in stead of oil 1/2 tsp of salt and really whipped the egg before folding it in and it was really good.

delicious pancakes! i also added only 2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. I added 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, used butter instead of oil, and only used 2 tablespoons. i really recommend this, its fast, simple, and really tasteful.

These were very good with the adjustment of the baking powder and salt. I did add vanilla. I read a couple reviews that said they were to flat. When you mix the batter, don't mix it until it is smooth. Leave it a little lumpy and that will make for fluffier pancakes. Also, letting the batter sit for 5 min. will help them be fluffier too.

Yum! These were easy to make and were light and fluffy! I did adjust the recipe as others suggested by reducing the baking powder to 2 teaspoons, reducing salt to 1/2 teaspoon, substituted butter for oil and added 1 teaspoon vanilla. In all fairness I did not try to original recipe, so it may have been fine as written. These were delicious! A definite keeper! Thanks!

I read others' reviews before making and used only 2 teaspoons baking powder, halved the salt, added 1 tsp of vanilla and subbed butter for the oil. They were a little bit flat, but tasted great. Will definitely make again!

I agree with Julienne, this recipe is very salty, though I think the baking powder amount was fine. Perhaps decreasing the salt by half would be better. It reminded me of pancakes made with Bisquick, which I'm not fond of b/c of the saltiness. Other than that, my family and I really enjoyed them.

Super yummy, I modified to my taste. I used 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teasp. salt, added an extra tablespoon of milk, added a teaspoon of vanilla and omitted the oil. For me, it works best to have a well heated medium heat non stick pan and let them rise quickly, that way they stay tender inside.
