Potatoes, carrots, and condensed onion and mushroom soups cook along with the meat for 4 to 5 hours. Green peas are added in the last 15 minutes.

Very simply prepared beef stew (no browning of the meat is required) can be made in a slow cooker or in the oven. All you need is onion-soup mix, brown-gravy mix, and apple juice.

Roasted Vegetable and Beef Stew
