It was some of the best Brownies I have had! I did what another lady said about useing 1/4 less shortening then what the recipe calls for,also i used butter in stead of shortening. We also put pecans in the mix and that's what really made it awesome.

I rarely bother to comment on a recipe that I have to rate under 4 but do feel that there are errors in this one. The amount of shortening does not balance. Definitely very easy to make but not like any brownie I have ever tried (and that is many). Do carefully check your recipe.

this recipe is just OK they were WAY to cake like it would be better as a cake but bad brownie if you are looking for good brownies try chewiest brownies

This recipe was easy. But the brownies weren't very satisfying. I ate one but wasn't sure I cared for it. Tried a second one & didn't care for it. My husband & 3 year old didn't care for the taste either.

My whole family loved these, they think they are the best ever! We used butter instead of shortening and Kalua instead of Vanilla. I think that made a difference.

We all really liked the recipe! It was not too sweet or rich, which is just what we wanted. I did substitute the shortening for margarine and doubled the cocoa, based on other reviews. I cooked it an extra 10 minutes. Added some chocolate chips on top after about 15 minutes of cook time.

These were awful. I read the recipe & thought to myself 3 Tbsp of cocoa just doesn't even sound like enough- I was right. I changed it to 1/4 cup cocoa, thinking I didn't want to overdo it, but something just told me...well I should have listened to that little voice that told me the cocoa was off because even after adding cocoa to the recipe they were just not right. My 5 year old wouldn't touch them even after I put chocolate frosting on them to try to save them. These, as somone else put were more "tanies" in color than brownies. Too much of everything else & certainly not near enough cocoa. They were flavorless. They were still warm when they went in the trash & we don't throw away food in this house. They were just that bad.
