To avoid getting crumbly, or weird little balls to form, leave the milk out till it is room temperature. It does that because the cold milk solidifies the melted butter.

I made this fudge twice with unsalted butter and it came out good. The third time I only had salted butter and I could tell something was wrong before I added the milk. In the end it came out like Debmillken stated with butter rise to top, pebbles in mixing bowl. I don't know really what I did wrong, scorched the butter maybe?

I thought this was a the recipe I tried a while back that we really enjoyed. This was just ok, didn't harden properly, I followed directions to a "T". Will continue to try new recipes.

Made these today and they turned out wonderful! I did use the suggestions for the 2 cups brown sugar and 3 cups confectioners sugar. Plus, I love peanut butter, so I added 1 1/2 cups instead of 1. Gonna have to hide them from the kids!
