Excellent flavor!! It get's 4 stars instead of 5 because of the consistency. It thickened as it cooled on our french toast and wasn't quite "syrup" like. The kids all raved about it's flavor though. Would be awesome on ice cream or over apple pie.

That was the absolute best syrup I have ever tasted! It was creamy, buttery and heavenly! My whole family devoured it and it might just replace our regular syrup!

I just made this recipe this morning! And, it is to die for! It has a wonderful caramel flavor! We had it on French Toast! I halved the recipe and there was plenty leftover since it was just my husband and me. I love that this recipe is so easy to remember and so easy to make in smaller quantities. You could really scale this down as much as you want. This syrup probably wouldn't be good with something like crepes because then it would over-power the taste... but for something hearty like French Toast it is perfect. This would also be wonderful on ice cream as a caramel sauce. A great way to use up the leftovers!

This is delicious!! My kids love it, and it is so easy to make. I made it when there was no maple syrup in the house, and I don't think we'll go back. Thanks for sharing.

I, too, grew up in Nebraska and my grandmother used to make this back in the 30's and 40's. I have been looking for the recipe for ages! Thank you! Rose Marie (Mettling) Lux

I loved this recipe, it was easy and very delicious. I would suggest mixing it with some regular syrup or else it gets really sweet.

Different, but quite good. It won't replace regular panake syrup though for me. Just keep in mind that it doesn't claim to be "maple syrup" & you'll be able to enjoy it for what it is. A nice change of pace.

I'm not sure where I got this recipe.I thought it was from here. Its awfully sweet for me, but the kids and grandkids prefer it to regular syrup. It keeps well in the fridge also.
