Fantastic recipe. I've been using a recipe for years from "Company's Coming - Muffins and More" but thought I'd expand my horizons and checked here, found this recipe and was excited to try it. I thought I'd compare it to my old one first and to my surprise it's word for word identical :). I took one viewers advice and doubled the margarine, and they were perfect. I've never had so many compliments from my whole family even from a student we have visiting from Germany. Thanks!

I must have done something wrong, since this recipe has gotten so many rave reviews...nonetheless - I attempted to make these as stand alone dumplings. The water boiled over and made a mess all over my stove and I was left with a mushy mass of yucky goop. Have to start over with a different recipe. I followed this one to the letter. No go!

My mother used to make chicken and rice with dumplings all the time when I was a child. She is no longer with us, and unfortunately her recipe is long gone. I was craving chicken soup with dumplings, and tried this out, and they were so good! They honestly transported me back to my childhood. Absolutely delicious, and my three year old loved them too. They are a great change from pasta or rice, and they were very tender and sweet. A great recipe, and very easy to make.

Absolutely delicious. I have never before made dumplings, but for some odd reason I was craving chicken and dumplings last night for dinner. I whipped these up really fast, and they were absolutely scrumptious. Thank you Carol for a wonderful recipe!

This is a great budget stretcher! The dumplings taste great, are very very easy to make and all from stuff that you already have in your kitchen. I love that you can use the ol' "that looks about right" for the measurements and they still turn out great.

Awsome!!! I have recently lost my grandmothers recipe for dough boys, and this one is as close as I can remember, they came out like biscuits! Almost as good as hers, but really who come close to granny's cooking right? Thank you, thank you, thank you for this recipe.

I used cooking oil for the fat. They came out great. The secret my mom taught me to making "dough boys" as we used to call them is to dip your spoon in the liquid between each dumpling so that the batter doesn't stick to the spoon while scooping. The dough slides right off the spoon.
