One word... YUM!!! Made as is with added onion and was perfect. I also used dough cycle on bread machine for first rise out of pure laziness but it worked.

These have been a tradition in our family since the early '70s. My husband's aunt taught me right after we were married. Moist and flavorful and compliment either ham or turkey.

LOVE this recipe! I tried it months ago and need to use up some cottage cheese that my bf left me with before heading out of town... these are on my radar. Worked perfectly and I can't wait to make another batch!

To be honest I have not tried this recipe just yet, it looks just like my moms recipe though. The recipe also looks like one in a Dutch Oven recipe book that was pretty much the same. Dilly rolls are the one roll that is served for the holidays, in our. These are great frozen and then defrosted at a later date. If you like these and like Dutch oven cooking Try these in a Dutch Oven, they are fantastic!!! (freeze about two for every person and bring them on your next camping trip, just thaw out in the Dutch Oven before baking, these give a great addition to any camp out) You can also use two cast Iron Skillets, one turned on top of the the other

I was surprised to find this recipe on allrecipes! My mom has made the identicle rolls (double the salt) for YEARS and I though she had brilliantly made up the recipe. I guess the glory actually goes to taste of home. My family has a near cult like following for the Beloved Dilly Rolls. I do all the mixing in my kitchenaid and I know it has enough flour when the dough is smooth, unsticky and has an almost skin like consistency. Let the rolls raise once in the mixer and once on the pan. My mom uses dried minced onions but I like raw chopped onion. You need to make these rolls ASAP! They will change your life. They make awesome little sandwiches with ham and turkey too. Sooooo Goood!

This recipe is the Absolute Best recipe ever for cottage cheese dill bread. I have been using this recipe for over 10 years. It came out first in " Taste of Home " magazine. Every holiday season I get so many requests for it.

I have made these many times over the years and everyone always asks for the recipe. The only suggestion that I have to make is make sure you bake them long enough because the center has a tendancy to not get done all the way through and you can also loosly tent some foil over the top if they get too dark. I use real onion and grate it and it works well.
