Love potatoes, cabbage and bacon. But all mushed up together, I thought the taste of cabbage was too mild. Might be good if you had someone who didn't love cooked cabbage, but I do and prefer my cabbage on the side of my mashed potatoes.

I love his recipe as it is, but I did make some changes the next time that I think made it more to my taste and have gotten rave reviews. I prepped early: nuked a pound of turkey bacon and tore the slices apart (approx .75 inches) rather than crumble, smashed the ptotaoes (red with skin on-lazy) and added enough milk to add some moisture, added some minced garlic to the chopped onion (softened in a little oil)and put it all in a casserole dish. I baked it for approximately 30 minutes before serving.

Absolutely delicious! I substituted Betty Crocker Roasted Garlic instant potatoes for a quicker meal and it turned out great! The husband and I had it for a lazy Sunday lunch. I will be making this again.

My bf & St. Patty's day guests LOVED this recipe!!! Definitley no leftovers... Sautéd the onions & cabbage with the salt & pepper to enhance flavor. I also did not Have bacon but had kilbasa sausage so I used that instead & was very pleased- which is why I only gave 4 stars. By bf loved it so much- he asked me to make a couple of days later!

I used leeks instead of onion but other than that followed the recipe. I have never made this with cabbage before. I have always used kale which I think I prefer. This was very good too though and went well with corned beef for St Patty's
