This is an excellent bar cookie. Except for adding 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon as many reviewers suggested, and using apricot preserves, I followed the recipe exactly. I used a pastry blender to cut the butter into the sugar mixture until it resembled coarse crumbs. I also used old fashioned oatmeal. Two very good things about this recipe: requires ingredients that most people have on hand, and only requires one bowl. So, this is easy to make at the last minute, and is easy to clean up as well. I would certainly make this again. I would definitely take it to a party, or give to someone who enjoys home baking. Thanks so much for the recipe.

I made these the other day for a dessert party, and I was totally the star. I was nervous serving something I had never tried before, but everyone was asking who made the bars, and how they could as well. I doubled the recipe and made a few very simple changes. 1. I added a dash of cinnamon to the crumb mix. 2. I squished down some almond paste on the first layer before spreading jam. This was a GREAT idea. 3. I used blackberry jam, because that was all I had. I think this made it more unusual and exciting. So again, super easy to make, and great. These were literally the talk of the party, among men and women. Dream come true.

Yummy! Yummy! This was so easy to make and it was delicious. I forgot to grease the pan and put the foil in but I still had no problem getting it out of the pan (I think because it was a brand new pan or the type of pan I got). I doubled the recipe and used an 8x12 pan and the cookies were so good. Kids begged for more. :)

My 9 and 6 yr old daughters had fun helping me make these delicious treats. We used a 9"x13" pan and sprinkled the extra crumb mixture over ramekins filled with chopped apples, a sprinkle of sugar and cinnamon and baked them along with the bars for 35 mins. Both were a big hit.

These are very easy and pretty tasty, but nothing very unusual or jaw-dropping in my opinion.

Reduced sugar by half, it was sweet enough with the jam. Used white sugar because it was all I had, also didn't use the baking soda because I was out. Used about 1/4 less butter which I also melted, super easy and tastes great! Thanks.

Fabulous! Thin the jam a bit with water or lemon juice to spread more easily. I added some flax seeds and may try coconut next. A keeper for sure
