This is a great recipe! This was my first time ever making a potato soup. The tiny local grocery hardly had thick cut ham so I substituted the ham for fresh bacon and also ended up adding some petite peas and a large carrot. This turned out smelling delicious and tasting great. Definitely will make this again!

Have made this recipe for years with a few minor changes. I usually make double to triple the amount and eat it for several days especially in the winter. I am not a fan of celery so instead of using the celery I add in a can of cream of celery to still get the taste. I use 3 times the amount of pepper. And top individual bowls with cheese. Tried adding the cheese in but the flavor was much better just topped.

This is the best ham and potato soup recipe I've ever tried. It's a great way to use up leftover ham. I follow the recipe as written, except I don't add any salt. I think the chicken bouillon granules have plenty of salt in them, so it's not necessary to add more salt. I also don't really care for pepper, so I usually skip that, too.

This soup is easy to make and tastes absolutely delicious! I doubled the recipe and added SHRIMP to the potatoes the last 3-minutes of cooking...

This soup is amazing! Neither my husband nor I like celery much, so we substituted carrots for the celery. We used our left-over Honeybaked Ham which added so much flavor! Delicious!!

So delicious! I decided to make this recipe on a whim after having some leftover ham after Easter. The recipe is extremely versatile in case there are other items (I added 1 carrot, extra ham, garlic powder, more celery) that you would like to add/remove. Really quick to make as well. It was a hit at my household!

Was trying out this recipe when I learned that 11 people were coming to dinner! Uhhh...quick, increase the ingredients and hope this soup is a winner. It was a huge hit with not a drop left in the pot. I did not add the salt, opting for people to salt it themselves which no one did. I would reduce the pepper to 1/4 teaspoon next time. Served with a nice chunk of homemade, rustic bread and a green salad and you have a cold weather, comfort hit!

My family loved this recipe, but we also found it was WAYYYY too much Pepper. Cut the pepper in half atleast. That way each person can add more to their own tasting
