Best soup EVER! My entire family loved this. Only thing I did different was double the recipe and add a bag of instant mashed potatoes to thicken it up and a little extra pepper. Will make this one over and over. Thanks for the great recipe!!

I thought this recipe was excellent and easy to make. I made a few modifications by increasing the volume of water, potatoes, ham, milk, and celery. I put in 5 cups of water, 3 cups of cubed ham, cubed 4 potatoes, 2 stalks celery, 3.5 cups of milk, one full stick of butter and my two additions were a healthy pinch of garlic salt, and 3/4 cup of sour cream. I used half a can of chicken broth. I did not have any buillon cubes. I also increased the cooking time from 15 to 20 minutes for the boiling of potatoes. This SOUP was a complete gold metal with the picky eater in my family.

Mmmmm...tasty! Made it in the slow cooker then added roux at the end. Added 1 large carrot and a pinch of tarragon to recipe.

This soup was awesome. I bought pre-cubed ham which made the chopping minimal. I did make a few small changes. I substituted 2 cans of fat-free, low sodium chicken broth for the water and bouillon. I also only used 4 Tbsps of butter and flour. Added a little parsley at the end of cooking and topped bowls with a little shredded cheddar cheese.

I'm a big fan of potato soup but was always a little lazy to make one from scratch. This recipe is not only easy, but it's fairly quick to make and boy was it delicious! I've made it once last week and plan on making it again this week. The only thing I changed was that I used turkey ham and double it since I really like my meat.

Great soup! I didn't have any ham but I had a pound of bacon. I chopped 6 slices of the uncooked bacon and boiled it with the potatoes, etc. Didn't add the celery because we don't like it. Then cooked the rest of the bacon crispy and added it to the soup at the end! YUMMMMM!

This is a delicious soup! I did a few different things, I used chicken broth instead of water and I put only ONE tablespoon of granules, because they are SO salty ! And I used half and half instead of milk and it was so good and velvety ! My son's only complaint that he wished I used less onions, so do I and I wished I diced them smaller. Happy eating my friends!
