Boy oh boy was this good. I added extra pepper because I was afraid it would lack flavor like some potato soups do, but boy was I wrong. My family gobbled this up (small kids and all)! I used my leftover Christmas ham and served it with crusty bread. A definite keeper!

This was an excellent dish. I used 2 cans of chicken broth instead of water/bouillon, and also added some carrots and sprinkled some rosemary for flavor. This was perfect, and everyone enjoyed it. It is more a chowder than a soup, very rich and hearty.

This was my first attempt at making soup and it was easy to follow and delicious. I would add more celery next time and possibly some other veggies and a bit less salt, but those are the only changes I would want to make.

This is a new family favorite. I have made it twice. I would suggest not boiling the potatoes as long so that they are not too soft. This recipe is simple and inexpensive to make. We love it!

Delicious. I used 2 bouillon cubes dissolved in 2 cups hot water instead of the granules. My old recipe has been replaced.

This went together pretty quickly & easily. I added some minced garlic & some chopped carrots bits, used a no salt seasoning, topped w/a bit of shredded cheese & hubby & I loved it! I want to make it w/clams also ( instead of the ham) as I love a chowder. Thanks for the great recipe.

Absolutely LOVE this recipe. It's easy and tasty. The soup tastes wonderful. I took some leftovers to work and I had several people come and ask me what I was eating because it smelled so good.

This was soooo good. I took this to a friend's house last night and everyone raved. I used some chicken sausage I had instead of ham and it turned out great. Very fast and easy. My husband wants me to make it again tonight.

Very good recipe but a little bland. Add some red pepper flakes, garlic powder and more butter for a fuller flavor.

I made this for my Christmas Eve dinner as an alternative for the kids to a different soup. Everyone loved it so much, I had very little left. It could easily be made into a clam chowder...so says my dad, who gave it thumbs up.

Follow this recipe to a T and you will get rave reviews! It is awesome!! When I don't have ham, I use bacon. I have also made it using white fish and shrimp and it is a wonderful fish chowder. I always make it the day before and reheat it so the flavors meld together and the soup thickens. This is a quick recipe to make. YUMMY!

This was very, very good. I like pepper, so it was good for me. My boyfriend thought it was very good too, but asked to back off on the pepper a little bit. I would double the ham next time.

Loved this one. My boyfriend almost did not try because he does not like potatoe soup, but once I got him to try this one he ate three bowls. He is always asking if we can have that yummy ham and potdatoe soup.

sooo delicious! I added carrots and frozen corn. Also increased the butter to 6 TBS and flour to 6 TBS because I had so many vegetables! it came out perfect.

Awesome! Everyone at work raved about this soup and ate every bite I brought in. For the onion and celery, I put these in my food processor and chopped fine. I also reheated this soup in my slow cooker at work.
