this soup was very, very good! but it made much, much less than 8 servings. maybe it makes 8 servings if each person eats 1/2 cup of soup, but we certainly dont!!! so if you have more than 3 people be sure to double it!

This is hands down the best homemade potato soup I've had! I made the mistake of not adding enough chicken bouillon the first time I made it. My fault. But the next time, it was delicious. I think it's what makes it so yummy. Great recipe!

This soup was very good. I did adapt it a bit by making a ham stock from the ham bone and using that in place of the water and chicken bouillon. This made it rich and smoky flavored.

The best. The best soup that doesn't take forever to simmer to attain an excellent flavor. A gem of a recipe that I have passed on to several friends already. I served with brioche and molasses cookies for dessert.

Great flavor--we topped with cheddar cheese. I would have preferred to use an all natural boullion instead of one packed with MSG and other chemicals...maybe next time...

To say that this is good soup doesnt do it justice! It is amazing! I did double most ingredients and added carrots because I had them on hand. The great thing is that the veggies and ham amounts can vary depending on what you have left in the fride! Thickening the cream/milk mixture was kind of a task for me but I only had skim milk in the house so I think that may have been the problem...and I am never really successful at that anyway! So at the end I pureed two batches of 3 cups each in the blender and added it back in. It thickened the soup and amped up the flavor all over! Great for all that leftover ham! My husband has since told me that we are going to make this soup after everytime we make a ham!

I made this without the ham, and with 1 cup of chicken broth as a substitute for the water. Delicious!

My family really enjoyed this recipe. I used about 5 cups of potatoes because I accidentally cut up too much. I also used about a cup of ham because I wanted to use it up. It turned out great. We like a really chunky soup, so I made notes for next time to double the potatoes, ham & celery from the original recipe. Delicious & easy.

This soup is fantastic! I served it at a dinner party for 6 people and made enough for 12 people, thinking I would enjoy the leftovers. Well my guests ate it all. Delicious. I made the soup exactly as the directions state. No need to change a thing as this is perfect just the way it is written.

This was wonderful! The first time I ever made potato soup was with this recipe. I followed some other raters advice by adding carrots and green peppers since I don't like celery. Also had a little heavy whipping cream left over from Thanksgiving so I added 1/4 C in place of 1/4 C milk (then added the remaining 1 3/4C milk). Turned out great!
