My grandmother made this cobbler when I was a little girl I can still remember the fun we had first picking blackberries together in the hills. Blackberries are my favorite filling, but this cobbler can also be made with apples.

We have a plum tree in our yard, and some years it's so full of fruit that its branches have to be propped up. I always make one or two tarts to freeze for later.

I created this recipe myself with a few tips from my mom and grandma. Because it's so quick and easy, this cobbler can be made in minutes to suit any occasion. I've used it for a breakfast fruit dish, dinner dessert and light snack.

'THIS cobbler was always topped with fresh whipped cream that we skimmed from a milk pan kept cool in my uncle's pumphouse. We skimmed off that cream with a flat spoon and carried it to the kitchen to be whipped. Afterward, we could hardly wait for dessert to be served!'
