Used this recipe and entered it in our chili cookoff at work and won 1st place. It's very Wendy's-like. I used Herdez picante instead of Pace just because I like it better. I also used 1/2 ground turkey instead of ground beef. The seasoning is just right - I was worried about dumping so much black pepper into it - but it was just perfect. This is a keeper for sure.

My husband who loves chili, really loved this and was amazed that it was so easy to make. You can really alter this as much as you like. I used tomato sauce made for chili, 16 oz mild salsa, Chili-o seasoning (the whole packet), and Busch's chili beans (1 large in mild and 1 med in medium sauce). I also, added Borden's shredded cheese with taco seasoning. I omitted the garlic salt and used fresh garlic and a whole onion. My hubby said he would like some corn in it next time. It was a hit. As a note I'd like to add that for such a quick and easy recipe, it shouldn't harshly be compared to more extensive recipes. It's a great quick and tasty recipe worthy of 5 stars.

I absolutely love this recipe. You can easily control the spiciness by simply using mild, medium or hot salsa. I made it on a cold snowy night and my family loved it. The leftovers are even better. I didn't change a thing as I believe in trying a recipe first as the writer intended in order to leave an honest review. Thanks for this recipe.

My husband found this recipe about a year ago. He doesn't cook very much, but insists on making this chili anytime its a "chili" day. His "secret" ingredient is a pound of Bob Evans spicy sausage to kick it up a notch. I have to admit - although I love my own chili - this is outstanding. I prefer it over rice, but anyway you serve it, it's really great.

I have made this a few times now and I pretty much follow this recipe as is. I crack the pepper right in the mix i dont measure.. My husband really like his food hot and spicy and he was really pleased. Also made this for company and got rave reviews all around. I make this with cornbread and add some fresh cut chives and shredded cheese on top before serving. Thanks for a great recipe!

I've got this in the crockpot right now. I brown the meat in the skillet, then add in chopped onion and 3 garlic cloves. Drain the grease, and then I add it to the crockpot with the rest of the ingredients. Also, I add in a can of drained corn, and about 3 tbsp. jalapenos. Cook on low all day and serve with cornbread. My family loves this meal!

My family went nuts for this. I made my own chili seasoning with chili powder, cumin, oregano, seasoned salt, onion powder, and added fresh garlic.

This was a very easy and tasty chili. We all loved it! I did add green pepper and celery because we like that in our chili. This may be my new chili recipe because of the ease of it.

I loved how easy and quick this was! I loved that there was hardly any cleanup or prep. Just out of the can and in the pot! I added a can of diced tomatoes, used less tomato sauce and instead used a 16 oz salsa. I also added more onion and pepper flakes because we like spicy chili. This will be my goto recipe for Chili!

Wow Great chili! I didn't have salsa so I used Rotel. Didn't have red beans so I used Pinto and Black eye peas.I also added a can of corn (drained) This is the best chili I have tasted. Thanks Deb!

This was a very easy and quick meal to assemble. I was a little skeptical at first due to the simplicity of it all but the end result was outstanding. I will add more sauce next time since we like our chili to have more liquid but ultimately we will have this again.

Very good! I only put 1lb meat in it but rest according to the recipe. It was a really good chili, and with not very much effort! I looked up some other chili recipes on the site, and they ask for like 200 ingredients.. why do that when you can do this one with no hassle? I added some corn to it and husband ate 2 bowls of it

Great basic recipe! Tastes good on its own but we like it with a bit of kick so we used hot salsa and hot chili powder. We also added a can of Rotel and a small can of diced chilies. It came out nice and spicy. We enjoyed this with the Homesteader Cornbread. They complemented each other nicely. Yum!

This was the best chili I've ever made - I had some friends over for a party, and the only problem was - I didn't anticipate everyone going back for 2nd & 3rd helpings, and so we nearly ran out. Some of the changes I made: I added a can of diced tomatoes (drained), 1 TBS. of minced garlic, a couple dashes of hot pepper sauce, and I had to make my own chili seasoning mix because I didn't have any. I found a great mix recipe on this site that included flour, basil, salt, pepper, paprika, white & brown sugar, oregano, cumin & crushed red pepper - and made my own instead of using a store-bought chili seasoning. Otherwise, there was really nothing that I changed. I think the salsa is the key to this recipe. It was wonderful, and I will use this every time I make chili. Thank you!
