I made this as part of my Valentine's Day Meal this year knowing I wouldn't have time to put anything together that night. The only complaint is that the finished product was very dense...not like mashed potatos made "day of" at all. However, the flavor was heavenly...nearly decadent! MMMM!

I hate, hate, hate to do potatoes, and was disgusted when we got 'assigned' them for our big holiday dinner.... but this recipe (and my daughter!) saved the day! She made them the night before and everyone raved about them!

I wasn't in love with this recipe. I made these the day before and warmed them in the oven to serve. They were dry and stiff. They needed to have some milk or cream added in my opinion.

These are the best potatoes. They are not a light fluffy type but a heavier mashed potatoe great with gravy. I usually make a double or triple batch & freeze in gallon size ziplock bags. They thaw out great & are not loose or watered down when reheated.

Should have used SiSi's suggestions when I made these. Mine were dry and heavy. I will try them once more being sure to use the Yucon gold's.

Very good for its intended purpose. Great flavor. A warning to those who haven't tried day-ahead mashed potatoes; you will lose that light and fluffy consistency of freshly prepared mashed potatoes. For us, it wasn't worth the trade-off, but that has nothing to do with the recipe, just personal preference.

After heating through, just give them a quick stir. Just like a fresh batch of mashed potatoes. This is great for company. I hate using my mixer when guests are at the house. It's so loud and inhibates conversation. I will make this whenever we entertain.

This recipe was good, but not the best. The potatoes were very thick. I made them the same day, a few hours before dinner. Next time I will not make them ahead of time. I think it thickens up after it sits for a while.

Loved the 'day before' aspect of this, but I gotta say I think they would have tasted amazing the night I made them, but came out a little dry on Thanksgiving. The family all said they were great though - especially when drizzled with gravy on Thanksgiving.

This was good and I was grateful to have it ready to go in the oven when Thanksgiving morning came around. Our family prefers a big pot full of real mashed spuds, but this would be perfect for a potluck!

These are the best mashed potatoes I have ever had. Wow! They are easy to make. My husband devoured them and he doesn't normally do that. I followed the advice of some of the other reviewers and made them in the morning a couple of hours before I baked them. I added some chives to mine. Thanks for a great recipe.
