I've made this for years during the holidays. I split the sugars; half white and half brown sugar. I grease good sized vegetable cans; bake; cool and wrap in tin foil with curly ribbons on each end for a nice personal gift.

Very good after it had a day to set. Did cut the sugar to 2/3 C. Will put 2 C. dates in next time.

Very good flavor. I liked that it doesn't have a lot of spices. Would definitely cut down on the sugar next time though. I used packaged chopped dates which already have added sugar. This recipe is a keeper.

We loved this delicious bread! It was a little sweet for my liking so next time I will add a bit less sugar. I added King Arthur cinnamon bits a long with cake spice, nutmeg and cinnamon. I also used Smart Balance and Egg Beaters to cut a bit on fat grams. OH! I also added chopped papitas instead of nuts for the added crunch. A simple and tasty recipe.

I have used a recipe from this site for the past 3-4 years with great success, but decided to try another just for fun. This recipe is wonderful - you can really taste the dates, their flavor is not covered up by vanilla and spices. It's moist and easy to make - which all adds up to a 5-star sure to make again recipe. Thanks for a great posting!!

Read reviews and did add cinnamon and allspice. Everything else was by recipe. Love it! Thanks for the recipe.
