My version of Yule fruitcake has a citrusy twist. When you share it, be prepared to pass around the recipe.

This is the finishing touch to our Christmas dinner. My family always claimed they didn't like fruitcake, but they love this one! For the best flavor, let it sit overnight before slicing.

'This moist loaf is the perfect choice for people who don't like the candied fruits that go into traditional fruitcake,' assures Diane Hixon from her home in Niceville, Florida. 'Each slice is chock-full of goodies, so they'll think that you fussed when you haven't.'

For folks who like their fruitcake in small doses, this is the mouth-watering answer. I always have plenty packed away in the freezer to replenish my Yuletide supply.

This recipe produces a really moist fruit cake it was given to me by my mom, and it's really easy. My mom uses it for Christmas cake by icing it. I use it for birthdays, Christmas, or just for a treat. Originally submitted to CakeRecipe.com.

It's a shame that fruitcake as a species gets such a bad rap. With its two key ingredients - rum and butter - it ought to be a hit. This recipe includes dried fruit, instead of the glowing, candied stuff we've all learned to associate with fruitcake, and is less dense and more cake-like than many fruitcake recipes. It has become a favorite of my friends and family around the holidays (even the skeptical ones), and is delicious by itself, or covered with a layer of almond paste. Fruitcake is also traditional for wedding cake in England, and makes a very rich, sophisticated dessert for luncheons or teas.
