It wouldn't be summer if Mom didn't make lots of these creamy cucumbers. Just a few simple ingredients--mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar and salt--dress up slices of this crisp garden vegetable. --Michelle Beran, Claflin, Kansas

This was one of my mother's recipes and I think of her whenever I make it. It's a nice change from a regular cucumber salad.

These cucumber slices make a cool summer side dish dressed in a light, tangy vinegar and oil mixture seasoned with herbs. The refreshing salad is always a hit when served with cold sandwiches or grilled meat. -Mary Helen Hinson, Lamberton, North Carolina

We moved here about 3 years ago and we love our home in the country. We plant a garden each year, making sure there's always plenty of cucumbers. I must admit I never really cared for cukes until my mother-in-law prepared them this way. Now they're one of my favorite vegetables.

'ONE OF the staples of Ukrainian cooking is sour cream. This combination of sour cream and cucumbers makes a very tasty salad. During the summer we use cucumbers from our garden for that wonderfully fresh, crunchy taste. But store-bought cucumbers work almost as well, so we enjoy this dish year-around--it goes especially well with meat dishes.'

You'll spark taste buds with this tangy and refreshing salad. The simple marinade gives mild cucumbers lots of zip. The tomatoes are a pretty addition. This is a super use of summer's garden bounty. -Edna Hoffman, Hebron, Indiana
