Holiday meals are even more memorable when I complement them with this chewy onion bread. Day-old slices taste great with soup and sandwich fillings, too.

If you are looking for an easy bread recipe, this is it. Because there's no kneading involved, the bread is simple to make. A neighbor gave me this delicious recipe years ago after I had sampled the bread at her house.

Anytime is the right time for a comforting slice of homemade bread. These loaves are especially nice since the crust stays so tender. This recipe is my husband Nick's favorite. He makes most of the bread at our house. -Joanne Shew Chuk, St. Benedict, Saskatchewan

This crusty bread is as big a treat today as it was when Mom made it back when I was growing up. It goes so well with an Italian meal or alongside a big bowl of soup. --Cookie Curci-Wright, San Jose, California

'My husband game me a bread machine for Christmas the year we were married, and I use it about once a week,' notes Janet Vink from Geneseo, Illinois. 'We like slices of this bread with a spaghetti dinner and often use the leftovers for French toast.'

THANKS to Clancy Strock's article mentioning Milwaukee bakeries in a past Reminisce, I was reminded that I, too, missed those hard-to-find, airy, crispy rolls! Years ago, I begged family members living in Chicago to try to find the recipe. My sister-in-law sent me a handwritten recipe, and now I can make these rolls for myself. -Charles Steers, Anaheim, California
