Crunchy Bagel Chips
SUBMITTED BY:
Robin Boynton
"This savory snack from Robin Boynton of Harbor Beach, Michigan tastes just like store-bought bagel chips...and it's a great way to use up leftover bagels."

I made 3 different batches. First batch I made was as recipe stated which gets the above rating. 2nd batch I added olive oil and onion powder to the recipe. Very good. I also had some leftover cinnamon raisin bagels that instead of the savory seasoning I added sugar and cinnamon to the butter. Yum! Oh yea and a 4th batch that I made (for me who is watching my calories) I sprayed with zero calorie butter spray and sprinkled with garlic salt. Not as good as the original but it will do. :)

These were yummy! I did do a couple of things differently to save time. I put the bagel bits in a ziploc and poured the butter/garlic mix into it and shook vigorously. I did add 2 more tablespoons of butter ensure they all were coated and to cut the saltiness. I cut half of each bagel into pieces, put into ziploc and added 1 Tbl. of butter/garlic mixture and then placed on baking sheet so that they were all pretty even. Perfecto! Made Beer Dip I to dip them in. *UPDATE* So I made some more today with the bagels I had made from scratch about a week ago. This time I seasoned differently though because I wanted something spicy. I had about 6 or so medium bagels, cut into pieces and put in ziploc bag with olive oil to coat, a packet of ranch dip and cayenne pepper to taste. YUM!

I made these to use in Chex Mix. They were so good I could hardly keep from eating them before I could get the Mix made. I used onion flavored bagels and garlic powder (rather than salt) with unsalted butter. (I'm not a big fan of salt.) It's also a fun recipe to make with the kids; my 20 mo loved painting the butter on the bagel pieces.

So good and easy to make. I put the melted butter in a Tupperware container, threw the sliced bagels inside, quickly put the lid on and shook it like crazy. Then after putting the bagels on the cookie sheet, I sprinkled the bagels with the garlic salt and sprinkled on some grated parmesan cheese too. So good. However, they didn't taste so good the next day. Possibly, the recipe's suggested method is a better way to get bagel chips that last longer.

Super simple. I used butter flavored cooking spray and it was fast and healthier then what you buy in the store.

These are perfect bagel chips. I had to keep checking as they baked because the thinner ones were done ahead of time. I needed some bagel chips to make chex mix and these will be great! Can't stop snacking on them! Thanks for the recipe.

Rather than brushing the butter over the chips, I put the bagel slices in a large ziploc bag, poured in 1/2 c melted butter and the seasonings, and shook it up like crazy. Then I laid them out on the sheet for baking. I got great coverage with this method. These are fast and addictive -- I served with Spinach/artichoke dip.

Delicious! Although, I also cut back a bit on the salt. I had a bag of bagels about to expire on me. I cut each one in half to make a half circle, and then sliced these in half, length-wise to make big half moons, instead of small rounds. (I was in a hurry!). Anyway, turned out just great and were gobbled up by a houseful of teenagers after school. Thanks for sharing.

Teenagers love them! I only added half a teaspoon of garlic salt because they can be very salty.
