My Mom used to make this when I was a kid. I was thrilled to find the recipe here. The only difference is that I use cream of mushroom soup instead of celery.

My Gammy put canned biscuits on casseroles, but hers were never this good. Who'd have thought about coating the biscuits? Great idea.

My husband LOVED this! I wish I had used smaller (regular sized) biscuits but it worked out well with the jumbo size. I used the recommended casserole dish size and wasn't able to fit all the ingredients in it. Next time I'll go a little larger (wider).

This was pretty good! I left out the celery seed, since I don't care for it. I also added a little instant minced onion to the hamburger when browning. I would recommend using a "bigger" 2-qt. dish. I used an 8x8 and didn't have enough room for all the biscuits. Plus, there was way too much sauce to cover all the biscuits, so I ended up pouring the rest in the middle. Still turned out ok. I didn't have any problem with my biscuits not cooking through.

I made this last night, only change was that I added a package of onion soup mix (didn't have french fried onions). It tasted okay, but the biscuits were very brown on top and gooey on bottom (didn't cook through). The kids wouldn't eat it. Not sure *why* they didn't cook through... Next time might skip the crown part and lay flat on top or something... seems as though it might cook better that way...

I'm not a big fan of celery soup. This was really good, but next time I think we'll try cream of mushroom. :)

Piping hot comfort food! As a child my husband ate a crown casserole and has been looking for a recipe to make for us. He said this was very close to what his mother used to make. Thanks so much for a great recipe! Family fav!

This was just OK. I thought the meat needed seasoning, which I added and it still seemed a little bland. This is great comfort food for a cold winter night though.

Super easy to make and a good way of getting all your vegetables in. I liked the taste of the french fried onions in this dish, very different. Nice looking casserole with the biscuits ringing the top.

I made this twice. First, exactly the way the recipe prescribed. Then the second time adding 1/2 pkg onion soup mix. I liked the addition of onion soup mix but watch the salt for your family- add according to family preference. This is a great recipe for a quick and flavorful main dish.
