This recipe is a good idea but with some modifications its FABULOUS! I used the left over butt ends of my homemade breadmaker bread. (Nobody in my family likes the butts.) They were perfect for croutons. Then I pounded up a mix of grilling herbs with my mortar and pistle threw in some Adobo seasoning and used probably a little more butter than would be very healthy and it was perfect. The herbs and extra salt made these the perfect complement to my salad and even a great snack. Next time I'm going to try olive oil. I'm expecting the same general result but better for us.

I used leftover dried up foccacia bread with a hint of ?rosemary? Lovely texture. As decribed, heated with butter and garlic, then 350 for 15 minutes. OOOO my god! SOOO good. I added a touch of salt as my butter did not have any. *Bad, I know, but I like salty stuff!*

These are a great way to use up leftover bread! I saved the heels of the bread in the freezer until I had enough, supprisingly they added up pretty fast. Then I took them out and defrosted them in the toaster and followed the recipe.

Great recipe ! This is a good way to use stale/ getting old bread. I made them last night with some leftover hot dog buns and my husband did not believe me that I made them. Awesome recipe and easy to adjust for taste, such as adding additional seasonings (basil, etc)

I will never buy store bought croutons again! These are so fast and easy! Had to make a second batch since we ate most of the others as soon as they came out of the oven. Can wait to try with other seasonings.

Easy recipe for garlic croutons. I used day-old bread, which made even crispier croutons. Used them in a casserole and it worked out great for me.

With today's high prices I can't afford to throw anything out, had five slices of Italian bread. I used butter and olive oil mixed with some garlic powder, salt and Italian seasoning. Baked at 350 Absolutely delicious. Will make again.

Who knew croutons would be so darn easy. We had some leftover three-cheese bread from Panera that was going stale. I cut it up, tossed in a ziploc bag as another reviewer recommended, poured the butter in and tossed. Put on a couple cookie sheets and baked it up! I did turn the croutons half-way through baking, and the cheese bread took much longer than the 15 minutes. We've already ate half of the batch just snacking!

These are delicious. I used leftover day old loaf of Italian bread that you take home and bake. I did not remove the crust. I used McCormick sea salt and garlic grinder for the seasoning. I cut the slices into about 1/2" cubes, put the cubes in a resealable zip-lock bag, ground the sea salt/garlic, closed the bag and shook. I served them on homemade tomato basil soup. We will be having these again.

Perfect! I forgot to buy croutons to go with the soup I made today. Of course my favorite recipe site didn't let me down! I only had 5 slices of wheat bread, but I ended up using the same amount of butter, brushing it on both sides. I didn't cut the crust off, which was fine- yummy, crusty croutons! I sprinkled garlic powder on one side, garlic salt on the other, without measuring. I baked for like 20 minutes, checking frequently. I'll be sure to make these again!
