These were so good! light, fluffy, moist, and wonderful dip in the glaze. I made dozens of doughnut holes and served them with toothpicks in the center. I also made a chocolate glaze by adding some chocolate to the hot glaze.Delicious! My favorite!

I've never had Crispy Creme doughnuts but these were really good. The kids loved them! I made some as doughnut holes and they were a huge hit!

These were very fluffy and moist! For sure a keeper, thanks! I added an extra TBS. of water to the frosting and make sure you cook them till they are a dark golden brown!

My husband said these were BETTER than Krispy Kreme! They are delicious! I halved the dough recipe and it still made PLENTY! I also used butter instead of shortening, which worked fine. I kneaded it all by hand, which is way more fun, especially if you're doing it with kids. Do not be discouraged if you do not have a donut cutter. After I rolled out the dough so it was still pretty thick, I used sissors to cut it into short strips and made them into donut shapes. It was tons of fun because you can make big ones, small ones, thick ones or skinny ones! And why stop there? Why not make letters or fun shapes? We didn't do that this time, but I don't see why you couldn't. I will definitely make these again but probably not for another year or so because they are so fattening!

I have tried a number of donut recipes but this is the best. I did use bread flour instead of all purpose and they were so light and fluffy. Thanks

Not so sure about these. They look really nice, but the taste just isn't there. Hmmm. I think they need to be sweeter before the glaze.

I really want to say that we loooved them like everyone else, but we didn't... I followed the recipe exactly and judging by all the 5 stars, it must've been something I did, but don't know what! They were very bread-ish, and not so fluffy/melt-in-your mouth like Kispy Kreme. Actually without the glaze, they taste exactly like the sweet rolls you get at Roadhouse! It was alot of work so if I'm ever having a craving for Krispy Kreme, I think I'll just go there :)

This was the first time I have ever made doughnuts and they turned out great. I halved the recipe, used butter instead of shortening and used rapid rise yeast so we wouldnt have to wait forever to eat these for breakfast. It worked wonderfully and we did some with just glaze, some with chocolate, and some with chocolate and sprinkles. The kids loved them.

Not that this needs another great review, but I have to share! These are fantastic! My dough used almost 6cups flour before it didn't stick to the bowl, but it turned out fine! I used the satiny chocolate glaze for the chocolate ones and rolled some of the doughnut holes in cinn/sugar mix. I will not be going to Krispy Creme anymore!!! This is a little time consuming, but well worth the effort!!! Thank you for the wonderful recipe!!! P.S. I do not have a deep fryer so I used my iron skillet with about 2" of oil in it. Preheat the oil in it on med/high heat about 5 min. Then when you start cooking drop down to med. Watch these carefully they will brown quickly. (I got a few overbrowned)

These are delicious and incredibly easy. They take time but I don't think there was much I could mess up on. My mom cooked them while I put the glaze or cinn. sugar on them. I only rerolled the dough once and made munchkins out of the rest because the dough was starting to feel tough.

I wouldnt go as far to say they are as good as KK but they are definitely an excellent homemade donut. After frying all the donuts I fried the donut holes and then rolled them in a sugar-cinnamon mixture. The only change I made in this recipe was I did not have any shortening so I used canola oil instead.
