Good recipe. I made a few modifications. I used milk instead of half and half, maple syrup instead of corn syrup and triple sec instead of grand marnier. Very tasty and easy. I will definitely make it again!

Great recipe, but not for everyone because it is sooo sweet. I used challah bread, which was awesome, and prepared it in the morning. You definitely don't serve this French toast with syrup, but you may want a dollop of whipped cream or some fresh raspberries to cut the richness. This was a hit with some and too much of a good thing for others, but I will make it again.

This is a great recipe - we love it. I made a couple of modifications - once the French toast is finished cooking, flip the individual pieces over and put it under the broiler to crisp it up - keeps it from being soggy and makes it more like creme brulee. I also toast sliced almonds separately and use that as a topping once the baking is complete. It's great with different toppings served on the side - cinnamon apples or sweetened strawberries are great with it. We don't remove the crusts, and it still comes out fabulously. This one is definitely a keeper. Bacon makes a great complement to the sweetness.

My husband rarely cooks, but for my birthday he surprised me with this awesome dish! It was the best birthday gift. He added a little bit of cinnamon and used day old grocery store sweet french bread and left the crust on, he also prepared it about 1 1/2 hours before putting it in the oven. It was soooo good. I can't wait to have it again. Syrup was absolutely not necessary

Soooo good and easy too! I made this for my in-laws and got great reviews, a little sweet for me though. I used orange zest in place of the grand marnier. I will make this again for sure.

I wish I would have loved this more because it sounded phenomenal! I thought the carmel sauce was way too sweet and the eggs were an awful consistency. Will probably not make again.

I could not believe how much this tasted like creme brulee, the texture of the bread and crispiness of the top makes it feel like you're eating creme brulee, and the taste is absolutely delicious. I recommend this for any and EVERY brunch you throw, absolutely delicious!!!

Over the years I have tried many different recipes for oven baked French toast. This is BY FAR, the best recipe! I now make this for Christmas brunch as well as several other special occassions (bridal & baby showers). Couple of things I do differently: -I left out the brandy (didn’t have any on hand) -Instead of using French Bread, I used a loaf of country white bread with the crust cut off. To make it thick, I had two layers of bread (I’ve also used 3 layers and put “stuff” between the layers…cream cheese w/ jam, etc…). I put the brown sugar mixture down first (as it says in the directions), then a layer of bread, I poured about a cup of the milk/egg mixture on top to wet the bread, another layer of bread & milk/egg mixture, and the final layer of bread and the rest of the milk/egg. I let it set about 12 hours in the refrigerator. It made a FULL 9x13. -I’ve also substituted maple syrup for the corn syrup.

Excellent! I cut this recipe in half, using 3 eggs, and about 2/3 stick of butter. I didn't have any orange, but it still came out great. I didn't do the overnight thing either -- but it was just soo good! This is going to the favorite recipe box.

Made this yesterday for my husbands birthday brunch...It turned out fantastic and everyone loved it. Made a few minor changes and used just what I had on hand...I didnt have corn syrup so I used maple syrup instead. Didnt have french bread so I used Pepperidge Farm Cinnamon and Raisin bread (cubed). I didnt have GrandMarnier so I used regular Brandy. I also added an 8-oz pkg of cream cheese to the milk mixture. It turned out really well. Hubby and the kids really enjoyed it. I already have requests to make it again.

OH MY GOSH! This is so good and so rich that I have decided to only make it on very special occassions. Our family parties always seem to start early in the day with everyone cooking, etc. and last late into the evening. The problem is the family wants it on Easter, Mother's Day, Christmas, Birthday's, etc.
