I made this for my mother on mother's day and she LOVED it. She even ate it for lunch. I filled up the pan with as much read as it could hold instead of the amount iin the recipe so that it wouldn't get to soggy. It was so easy to make. I prepared it the night before and baked it the mnext morning. Such a simple and easy dish that will have guests and family raving about your cooking skills. My parents have already requested it for next Christmas breakfast.

To give credit where credit is due, I've been making this delicious recipe since 1998 when I discovered a similar recipe featured in Gourmet magazine in an article on best Inn breakfasts. It deserves its fame!

This was very good. It's a fancy version of carmelized french toast (also from this site).

This recipe was amazing and very easy to prepare. It's very rich and sweet, so if you're serving it with brunch you have other "more bland" options. Also, make sure to cook it until it is golden brown, or else it will be soggy. I've made this with half and half and with soy milk, and they both taste excellent. I will make this again next time I have a brunch!

Ok - but will have to vary the bread thickness to get all of the egg mixture to soak in. Not too sweet for us "southerns" either. I sprinkled cinnamon on top before I baked. I left the crust on the french bread I used - which I will do again.

WOW! This was great!! I used challah bread instead, used only 4 eggs, fat free half&half and milk, and Splenda Brown sugar. Trying to make it a little more healthy ;).I also have a non stick cake pan and it worked beautifully!! No mess at all! My husbands loves this recipe and if it wasn't so high in calories, I'll be making it everyday.

I received this recipe from an InnKeeper in Bar Harbor. Imagine my surprise when she gave me the allrecipes web site. This is very rich - but a wonderful change to 'regular' French toast. I made for friends from the UK, and they found it way too sweet - that's not as much of an issue with my Canadian friends :-).

My mom requested french toast for Mother's Day and I didn't want to make the same ol' same ol'. I found this recipe and went with it. I used Van de Kamp's "french toast" bread (basically thickly sliced egg bread) instead of french and kept the crusts on. It was SOOOOO easy and my family LOVED it! We were very full after one serving but it was delicious, and did I mention easy? Thank you!!!

My family requests this dish every year for Christmas brunch. It is super easy since all of the preparation is done the night before and it soaks in the fridge. A real winner!

All my friends request this whenever we manage to get together for breakfast :D -- rather than stick to just 6 slices of french bread, I slice enough 1" slices from the loaf to fill the 9x13" pan. With this many slices, no worries about sogginess -- nothing but goodness!

This recipe was delicious as part of our family brunch. We ate it along with ham, fried salmon, quiche, and fresh veggies and fruit. Everyone loves it and it's a special request now. I substituted the corn syrup for a mixture of sugar, water, and cream of tartar.
