This was pretty good, but I think next time I make it I'll use Rotel tomatoes to spice it up a bit.

I couldn't find condensed tomato soup so I substituted with tomato paste. When I first did a taste test on the soup, it was WAY too sweet, I couldn't taste anything else. I doubled the spices (except paprika, I only added a dash more of that), added salt and pepper (to my taste, didn't really measure) and was finally able to salvage it and bring out some flavor. I ended up having to add three or four times the amount of milk I put in initially because the soup was just way too thick. I don't know if that was because of the tomato paste, but even WITH that substitution I feel like the dilution with milk was a little on the excessive side. Even with all that milk, the soup still came out more like a slightly thinned sauce than a soup. It was delicious to dip my grilled cheese in, and it's OK (and really, only ok) to use as a sauce, but I don't think it's really edible as a soup. I'll try to make it again with some reviewer's suggestions (such as using v8) and I'll see if that makes a difference. Not bad, but not great.

This was delicious! I used fire roasted tomatoes and three cloves of garlic, half of the cream cheese and threw in some sherry (about two TBS) It was full of flavor. Great recipe!

Its not really a completely stock recipe, but its good. The spices are right and the cream cheese is a perfect add in. People love to throw shredded cheese on top of their tomato soup already, this recipe just throws it in before hand to save you the trouble : ). . . I like a big glop of sour cream before serving this recipe though. Gives it an even better tangy sweetness that I am looking for. . .

Excellent base recipe! I've also made this with "interesting" substitutions, such as salsa and spicy-hot V-8 in place of some of the tomato sauce/soup ingredients, and it works out beautifully (just need to blend if you want it lump-free). Used fresh basil and garlic instead, and only about 1/4-1/3 of the cream cheese; topped it with fresh ground pepper, served with grilled cheese and green salad. A perfect dinner!

I love this recipe! The flavor is wonderful with the spices. The cream cheese just makes it that much better! Yummy! A++

I used green onions instead of regular since I needed to use them up, and loved the flavor. Next time, I will sautee fresh garlic with onions instead of using garlic powder.

I didn't think that this soup was all that great. I thought it was too sweet and actually didn't eat it. All the other reviews for it made it sound great, but I personally did not like it.

Quite good, although a tad to sweet for me. I'll leave out the sugar next time.

Awesome comfort food. I make it when I am very tired, hungry, and want something a little decadent. I half the recipe into a microwave-safe bowl. I only include the garlic powder, milk, paprika, fresh basal, canned tomatoes, and cream cheese. I did have to wisk it to spread out the cream cheese and help it melt. But I just finished making it for the third time and it was so satisfying.

Fantastic soup! Reminds me of the creamy tomato from one of my favorite soup and sandwich places. I followed other reviewer's advice and only used half the cream cheese (which was plenty) and I ran the onion through the food processor and the tomatoes through the blender for a second. Still nice texture, but no big chunks. Also used a clove of fresh garlic instead of garlic powder. Served with a sprinkle of Asiago cheese. Great recipe, thanks a bunch!

Ok, I wouldn't rate this the best soup ever. It tasted really good, but way to heavy. I think a whole block of cream cheese was way too much. 1/4 stick probably would be sufficient, I tasted it before the cream cheese went in and it was great. I would make it again, however, i'd hold back on the cream cheese and garlic.

I was craving tomato soup. This is a great recipe that I modified by using Healthy Request tomato soup, Splenda, low fat margarine, skim milk and 1/3 of an 8 oz block of cream cheese, and it still turned out great. thank you for this recipe!

I am usually not a big fan of tomato soup, but came across this recipe while browsing around this afternoon. After reading the previous reviews, I decided to give it a try. WOW!!!!!!!! This is without a doubt one of the best tasting soups that I have ever had. I followed the recipe excatly as written, and am hard pressed to think of any modifications that I will make next time, except for maybe adding a clove or two of crushed garlic when sweating the onions, (omitting the garlic powder).

This soup was really great, but I wouldn't say it was "the Best." I think the ease of the recipe may contribute to the higher ratings. I did use fresh garlic instead of the powder, I also didn't put the tomatoes in the processer as others recommended which I think may also add to the recipe. I will still make again, but not often.
