Awesome soup. I make it often. I add 5 crushed garlic cloves, fresh basil and only use a quarter of the cream cheese. I put it all through the blender just before it's done. Serve it with a grilled ham & cheese for lunch or dinner. Delicious...

This was fabulous! I used one can regular diced tomatoes, one Italian style - blended in blender along w/tomato soup as one reviewer suggested; added some Italian seasoning, used pre-minced garlic - sauteed with 4 diced scallions, and scaled back to about 5 ozs of cream cheese. Next time I may add the cream cheese to the blender, as mine came out with lumps of cream cheese that just won't blend in, no matter how much I stir it up in the heated soup. Fantastic flavor, love the creaminess!

This was really good. I added more spice and some salt. I also blended this in the food processor for a smoother texture (was craving something rich and smooth), next time I will use only 4 oz of the creme cheese and use roasted garlic instead of garlic powder. This was very good, easy, and can be changed in so many ways. I will be making it again. PS, my 6 yo who wont eat ANYTHING was eating this alongside of me, woo hoo!!!

Just finished a small bowl! Wonderful! I did halve the recipe...used chicken stock instead of milk and used fresh garlic (1 clove) instead of garlic powder. YUMMY! Obviously you can make as little or as much as you like. Awesome

Being a native from NY I absolutely love tomato soup and anything with tomatoes like Pizza. With that said, I also have to mention my silly teen daughter and my also silly husband are not so into my comfort foods. So disguised this soup by blending the tomato chuncks and adding grilled shrimp during one dinner last week and grilled chunks of chicken tonight, the cream cheese also gives it a more unique taste. They abosolutely loved it and I was estatic, I left an extra bowl of plain tomato soup for me for my lunch on the following days. Tomato soup is a comfort food for days when you just don't feel like really cooking. I used to buy fast food for them and heat a can of tomato soup for me. This soup finally puts the end to those nights. The BEST.

*HINT* make sure the cream cheese is extra soft before adding it. If you don't there will be clumps in the soup. I am not an onion fan so next time I will take those out.

This is the best tomato soup that I have ever had! Even my non-tomato soup eaters really liked it and my boyfriend craves it! In addition, I add fresh minced garlic with the onion and use fresh basil instead of dried. Very healthy and hearty on cold days! Great recipe!

Very good! I blended the diced tomatoes to make the soup more smooth and only added about one third of the brick of cream cheese. This soup is very flavorful, thick and creamy. I will definitely make it again!

Great soup for a cold night, especially with grilled cheese sandwiches. This soup is really good and creamy. I only added about half the cream cheese, based on other people's reviews. I also left the tomatoes in chunk form which was good but it might be even better if they were processed first. This would create a very smooth soup which would definitely be worth a shot.

We loved this soup. My daughter especially liked the chunks of tomato. It was rich so next time I will decrease the cream cheese by half and add a bit more skim milk. I made this a second time using a can of crushed tomatoes instead of tomatoe chunks to please my son, reduced the cream cheese to 1/2 (used low fat cream cheese) and added enough skim milk to make it "soupy" to my liking. It was fantastic!!

For what this is...it was fablulous and by that I mean it is not freshly grown tomatoes...it is canned tomatoes and it is tomato soup and it is DELICIOUS! I did cheat and add a bit more butter when I fried the onions - I think 1/2 cube.

I couldn't find condensed tomato soup so I substituted with tomato paste. When I first did a taste test on the soup, it was WAY too sweet, I couldn't taste anything else. I doubled the spices (except paprika, I only added a dash more of that), added salt and pepper (to my taste, didn't really measure) and was finally able to salvage it and bring out some flavor. I ended up having to add three or four times the amount of milk I put in initially because the soup was just way too thick. I don't know if that was because of the tomato paste, but even WITH that substitution I feel like the dilution with milk was a little on the excessive side. Even with all that milk, the soup still came out more like a slightly thinned sauce than a soup. It was delicious to dip my grilled cheese in, and it's OK (and really, only ok) to use as a sauce, but I don't think it's really edible as a soup. I'll try to make it again with some reviewer's suggestions (such as using v8) and I'll see if that makes a difference. Not bad, but not great.

This was delicious! I used fire roasted tomatoes and three cloves of garlic, half of the cream cheese and threw in some sherry (about two TBS) It was full of flavor. Great recipe!

Its not really a completely stock recipe, but its good. The spices are right and the cream cheese is a perfect add in. People love to throw shredded cheese on top of their tomato soup already, this recipe just throws it in before hand to save you the trouble : ). . . I like a big glop of sour cream before serving this recipe though. Gives it an even better tangy sweetness that I am looking for. . .
