"Even folks who don't like tomato soup really enjoy this rich and creamy version. It's easy, but it tastes like you put a lot of work into it."

Made 10/22/07. My family absolutely loved this soup, in fact they fought over the last bowl. I made it with 2 cloves of fresh garlic instead of the garlic powder that I sauted with the onion and 1-1/2 T. fresh basil instead of the dried. I also used 2 large tomatoes chopped up instead of the can of diced tomatoes because I needed to use them up. I served this with grilled cheese and sliced apples. Such a quick and easy meal and everyone raved. This goes into my collection of family favorites! Thanks so much for the wonderful recipe.

This was great. It was easy and delicious. I even messed up and added only 1 can of tomato soup, but it still tasted wonderful. I have just started learning to cook and am just experimenting for now but this is one I definitely plan to make again.

This soup was absolutely fantastic. I also put the diced tomatoes through the blender before I added them so that the soup would be smooth. Tasted like something you would get in a restaurant and it's SO easy. This is a keeper. Thanks!

Excellent base recipe! I've also made this with "interesting" substitutions, such as salsa and spicy-hot V-8 in place of some of the tomato sauce/soup ingredients, and it works out beautifully (just need to blend if you want it lump-free). Used fresh basil and garlic instead, and only about 1/4-1/3 of the cream cheese; topped it with fresh ground pepper, served with grilled cheese and green salad. A perfect dinner!

Awesome comfort food. I make it when I am very tired, hungry, and want something a little decadent. I half the recipe into a microwave-safe bowl. I only include the garlic powder, milk, paprika, fresh basal, canned tomatoes, and cream cheese. I did have to wisk it to spread out the cream cheese and help it melt. But I just finished making it for the third time and it was so satisfying.

Ok, I wouldn't rate this the best soup ever. It tasted really good, but way to heavy. I think a whole block of cream cheese was way too much. 1/4 stick probably would be sufficient, I tasted it before the cream cheese went in and it was great. I would make it again, however, i'd hold back on the cream cheese and garlic.

This soup was really great, but I wouldn't say it was "the Best." I think the ease of the recipe may contribute to the higher ratings. I did use fresh garlic instead of the powder, I also didn't put the tomatoes in the processer as others recommended which I think may also add to the recipe. I will still make again, but not often.

Absolutely Fantastic Soup! Delicious homemade taste with hardly any effort, and so yummy! It was a huge hit with all of of us, and there were second helpings had by everyone. I followed the recipe exactly, and made no changes, it was so creamy and delicious and so easy too. The only thing I might change the next time I make this is to puree the canned diced tomatoes in the blender before adding them since I have one daughter that loves tomato soup, but hates tomato chunks (she ate all of her soup, she just left the pieces of diced tomato in the bottom of her bowl). I will be adding this recipe to my "keepsake" file for sure, and will be making it again, and again, to rave reviews! Thankyou!
