This was my first attempt at making split-pea soup. Five stars for quick, easy, tasty, budget conscious, and did I mention EASY???? I will definitely make this again.

I made a few changes. First I soaked and entire bag (14oz) peas in cold water overnight and changed the water a couple times. Second I cooked the peas in three cans of chicken stock and about a cup of water instead of all water until the peas were soft. And third I used half-n-half instead of heavy cream. Then after pureeing all the ingredients I added more cubed ham (about a cup and a half). So it wasn't all creamy. It turned out very good, but made a lot for two people. I decided to freeze some for another day. I will make again, but will probably only puree half of it to keep a little chunkyness to the soup.

I really liked this soup after a few modifications. I added carrot, garlic, and 1 tsp dried thyme. I used as much bacon as the recipe called for, but threw out all but 2 tablespoons of the bacon fat. I cut the ham in strips, and after the soup had cooked, I fished out the ham and cut it into small cubes which went back into the soup after it had been through the blender. The soup needed some tartness, so I added lemon juice after the cream. I also like adding white rice to the soup when I eat it. The rice gives a nice flavor and some additional texture to this really tasty soup.

Delicious. The only change I made was using half & half instead of whipping cream. Still creamy and delicious.

I followed the recipe exactly but added a carrot and more water as the peas cooked down. Served it with cornbread and a salad and it was a lovely meal. Great soup!

This soup was very good, I didnt add any bacon but added just about a half cup of ham and added a can of chicken broth instead of four cups of water and it turned out perfect, very yummy and easy to make!

This was Ahhhawesome! I had leftovers for lunch for 2 days and still wanted more on day 3, but it was all gone. The only thing I did different was to cook the ham bone with the soup and I have one of those wand blenders, I felt that was much easier than transfering the soup to a blender in batches. Plus it saves having to wash an extra appliance. Also, I like croutons on my split peas soup. I used the prepackaged kind.

Excellent! I added a little garlic, as some of the other reviewers recommened and added a teaspoon and a half more salt. I also used a hand blender which worked wonderfully and was so much easier. Great, easy recipe. The crumbled bacon garnish adds such a nice touch!

Delicious...delicious...delicious. This is the second time I've made it, once with half and half and once with the heavy cream and both are good. I added one chopped up carrot (you can't have too many vegies) pureed it with an immersion blender then added the ham. Also, I had some chicken broth open and substitued that for part of the water. Thanks for a great recipe!!!

My family really liked this soup but I did have to make a few changes while cooking because following the recipe made mine come out a little bland (although I did omit the bacon and substituted milk for cream to make it a LITTLE more heart healthy). I used low-sodium chicekn stock for some of the water and added a bit more salt than it called for but was happy with the result.

YUM! I have always LOVED split pea soup, but have tried twice to make it only to be disapointed.... not THIS time! I followed the recipie exactly, except I used half and half, since I already had that on hand for hubby's coffee. Thanks so much - Even my 14 year old daughter who SAID she didn't like split pea soup, and continually commented on the "icky" color, had two bowls! heh! I made the Red Lobster biscuits with it. Great winter supper!

Excellent! I made many changes though. 1) I added one cup of carrots, two cloves garlic, and some hot red pepper. 2) I only pureed half of the soup. 3) I used leftover BBQ pork 4) I used one quart water and one quart chicken broth. Using the strong flavored pork as well as the chicken broth added a sense of depth to the soup. It was quite delicious.

I haven't written too many reviews for recipes before, but this one really deserves it. This is an excellent and easy to make split pea soup; it's a recipe I intend to make again and again. I did change just a few things. My husband doesn't eat pork so I cut out the ham and substituted a beef salami for the bacon. Also I halved the cream and added low fat milk for the other half. Otherwise no changes - came out great. Thanks a lot for the recipe.
