When I first saw this recipe I thought "Wow!", but after reading the reviews I knew I had to make some changes to it. I only gave it a three star, cause I probably won't be making it again, just because I'd rather make other things with cream cheese than bread pudding!

Well I made this for Christmas dinner with the changes that Amy suggested and it was great, I doubled the recipe and used cinnamon raisin bread and 6 apples that I chopped small rather than sliced and when frying in the butter I added quite a bit of cinnamon and a little nutmeg and I also added about 6 tbsp brown sugar and added more vanilla, I made the Whipped Maple Philly Dip to top it with and this was a great dessert however I don't think I would make this again for Christmas dinner because with dressing it's just too much bread but I would make it for another dinner party.

I had a hard time rating this one, because I WANTED to like it so much more than I did. I gave it 4 stars because the consistency is awesome...exactly what I look for in a good bread pudding. The flavor was really lacking, however. I even used cinnamon-raisin swirl bread and it was still pretty blah. I think that adding cinnamon to the apples and/or the cream cheese mixture would probably do wonders. I would probably also recommend some more vanilla extract or even possibly some maple extract. I think the recipe has a lot of potential (and I think I will try it again with those modifications), but didn't care for it a whole lot when I made it exactly as written. Don't count it out though...it has the makings to be incredibly yummy!
