I made enough for just little old me and it was delicious! It is a bit on the sweet side as some other viewers noted, but i loved it!! I used evaporated milk as I did not have half/half but it is still a 5 star recipe in my eyes! Bravo!

I've never had real hot cocoa before, always stuff from a can or a box. It's pretty good. I didn't have cream and was 1/2 a cup short on the milk quota, so it's very chocolatey and sort of thick that way. It's all right, I will have to try it again!

This recipe was pretty good. I used less than 1/2 cup sugar, and I left out the half-and-half. It was creamy and not too sweet. I also added whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.

I made a single-cup serving. The single-cup serving calls for three tablespoons of sugar, but instead I used two. And I used fat-free half and half. Those were the only two differences. It tastes great.

I combine this recipe with the "Moscow Hot Chocolate" recipe for a GREAT winter warm up. I don't add the half and half, it doesn't need it...you could use fat free half and half if you're as horrified as I am by the fat content...

This turned out much tastier than I was expecting. I scaled it down to 1 serving and used only 1/2 tbs. sugar. Insteady of whipping cream, I used flavored coffee creamer and it was delicious.

I agree with the others. Reduce the sugar to just under 1/2 cup and it's perfect. I used whole milk as well for a creamier texture.

Good Stuff! I didn't have half and half so I added some powdered creamer and it turned out great. I also added a pinch of cinnamon...very good on a cold night!

I made 1/2 the recipe and it still yielded around 3 1/2 cups. It was much too sweet for me. The next time I will cut the sugar down to more than half. It's very rich. If you have a sweet tooth, you will love it. I thought it was okay.

Easy to make for one! Need a 2c. mug, small whisk, 1T. and 1/8 tsp. measure, & microwave. Place 2T. water, 2 1/2 T. cocoa, 1T. sugar, and pinch of salt in bottom of mug. Stir with small whisk. Microwave 1 minute. Whisk in 1 1/2c. milk and microwave 2 1/2 minutes. For full-bodied taste stir in 1/8 t. vanilla, 1/8 t. almond extract, & 1T. half & half or whipping cream. Sprinkle top with cinnamon and stir. This gives you a tasty way to get 50% of your daily calcium and leaves hardly any dishes to wash!

I cut the sugar back to a little more than 1/2 c based on others' suggestions, and it was still way too sweet for my taste. The kids enjoyed it, though. If I make this again, I think I'll use much less sugar.

This is a really great homemade cocoa. It's easy and doesn't taste too cocoa powdery. I usually cut the amount of sugar down a bit and use healthier sugar subs/alternatives like sucanat, maple syrup, xylitol and raw honey (that I add at the end though so it doesn't get cooked). I also don't add the half and half, I just don't let the cocoa get too hot. Very tasty, thanks!

I didn't have whole milk, I had skim. I think it would have been too rich with the whole milk anyway (for me at least!). I only made one serving, so I did not follow the directions exactly. I stirred up the dry ingredients in a mug, then whipped the hot water into it until well blended. I then whipped the skim milk and half and half in. Microwaved until hot and served with whipped cream (from a can). YUMM! A nice Sunday afternoon indulgence!

Oh yummy, I make this all the time. I did cut back on the sugar for my kids sake, 1/3 cup is plenty for us! The creamer makes it so wonderful!!

This is the best hot cocoa recipe. We had it on Christmas Day and New Year's Day at our family get together and it was hit.
