This is very, very good with mini marshmallows! We didn't have creamy so we just used (skim) milk. Thank you this wonderful cold-day drink! I can't wait 'till it snows no can make this after a full day of sledding.

Yum! Here's how to do it easily in the microwave: In a 4 cup Pyrex measuring cup, put your cocoa (I used a rounded 1/3 c), sugar (I used a rounded 1/3 c), salt, and cold water. Mix with spoon. (It will be quite lumpy). Microwave for about 2 minutes, stopping to stir several times. Microwave more if needed, but keep stirring several times until this syrup is fairly lump-free. Add the vanilla and the milk. Continue microwaving and stirring a bit until this is hot and creamy (about 5 minutes.) Pour into mugs and top with 1/ & 1/2 as directed or use whipped cream. Sooo yummy!!!

I've done this recipe a few times now. The first few I've done it just as it's written, and the latest i've reduced the sugar to 1/2 cup. Both have been well received and were quite yummy! Just reduce if you're not into sweet cocoa.

Oh yum. But did cut the sugar back to 1/2 c and could probably go down to a 1/3 c ... but that's "Mom" taste. My two sons, aged 13 and 10, thought it was appropriately sweet, while I felt my face scrunching up a little. Toss in a lil cinnamon with the other dry ingredients ...

I thought this cocoa was OK. I used 1/2 cup of sugar and still found it very sweet. (My tongue feels a little "furry" now!) Maybe next time I'll use 1/3 cup sugar.

I love this hot coco, I have always made it on an individual basis, 1 heaping teaspoon of coco powered, 2 heaping teaspoons of sugar, a pinch of salt and mug full of milk. No water, nor half & half, however, I like the idea of vanilla. This is a Christmas morning favorite for my two sons. Will let you know how the vanilla goes with the boys.

I simplified this a bit, using milk instead of the water/milk/cream combination, but with this modification we've done it over and over with great results!

It might be right off the Hershey box, but it's 10 times better then the other recipe I tried! Might actually have a bit to much cocoa, will try it with less... And I added about 1/8 tsp of cinnamon (the only good thing from the other recipe) and it's GREAT! Topped with marshmallows... yummmm

WOW!!!! Good bye Swiss Miss, and HELLO to this recipe. I did follow some advise. I did cut the sugar to a little less than 1/2 cup and I used Ghiardelli unsweetened cocoa. Once you try Ghiardelli, its tough to use anything else, I even use it for my Brownie mix. I doubt I will ever buy packets again. Thanks for this fabulous recipe!!!!

I am drinking this Hot Chocolate as I write this and it is wonderful! I added the recommended amount of sugar but put 1 1/3 water instead of the 1/3 recommended. I also added 1 tablespoon of vanilla instead of the 3/4 because I love the flavor of it. I will make this again!

It was very good... too sweet as others have stated (I forgot to read the reviews before making). Next time I will decrease the sugar significantly and I'm sure it will be absolutely perfect! We will be making this frequently this winter since I usually always have these ingredients.

This is pretty good. It is way to sweet as others have stated, and I only used 1/3 cup of sugar. It might have been b/c I used sweetened cond. milk, and while it was coming to temp, I added a few Hershey kisses to it...lol..Next time I make it I wont add any sugar to it. Other than that it was really good.
