This recipe, as prepared, was tasteless.

This crab spread was not very good made exactly as prepared. First, even as an onion lover I found the onion VERY overpowering. I think the problem is when you grate onion it is extra powerful since you are breaking the membranes and you get the pure juice with it. Second, other than that it was quite bland. I was able to save it by adding approximately 1/2-3/4 teas. of creamy horseradish (this is not the pure form but a sauce grocery retailers sell simply called creamy horseradish - it's milder) and about 1 teas. fresh lemon juice. I will make it again, as I think it is just right with those tweaks and next time I will use half the grated onion.
