I'm not really into icing, but this recipe is great. Nice chocolate flavor, just sweet enough. Super easy recipe.

Great QUICK recipe. I used a recipe that I received from a friend and it was horrible. So in the time crunch I was in I found this recipe. A little grainy from all the sugar but good for a quick and easy recipe. I used FF half and half because that's what I had on hand. It worked just fine.

Very creamy (but it does get hard when it sits) while you spread it. I will probably add more milk to make it more creamy next time.

This is a very tasty frosting. Mine came out a little runny, but my fault cuz was short on the sugar. Mine wasn't nearly as pretty aspictured but the taste is the frosting is yummy. not too sweet and not too chocolaty! definately worth a try!!!!!

Very good and tasty! My husband and I found it very sweet. Good think I paired it with a not so sweet cupcake. I was only able to frost about 15 cupcakes though. I would double it next time just to be sure.

What a great recipe! After my cupcakes were in the oven I realized I didn't have any frosting...this was quick and easy and far better than store bought! I didn't have evaporated milk so I substituted half and half and it turned out great! I don't think I will be buying frosting at the store again! :)

Ok... To everyone who complained about this being too runny... You're supposed to add the milk/liquid slowly, and to the consistency of your liking. "5Tbs" doesn't always mean you should use that exact amount. That said, I thought this was an ok icing. It's not very rich. It sets quickly so be careful about it becoming grainy/crumbly, and to add sprinkles to cupcakes as you go. I was able to BARELY frost 24 cupcakes (not heavily either). I think I'll use a different frosting next time.

If you're accustomed to the old hershey's recipe from the back of the can (what I grew up on) you'll probably find this to be a similar, slightly better version. I've kept mine in the fridge (keeping milk out at room temp makes me kind of nervous) and I have found it to stay nice and soft. I don't have a problem with it being crunchy, like some reviewers have. I think that comes from having too much sugar. The proportions in this recipe seemed to be just right and one batch was a perfect amount to frost the top of a 9x13. I paired it with "One Bowl Chocolate Cake II" and I think it makes a great "every day" treat to get the family gathered around the table.

This frosting is delicious!! I followed the recipe perfectly, and the consistency was great for frosting a cake...very smooth. Also, instead of the 5 tablespoons of milk, I used 4 tbsp of milk and 1 tbsp of freshly brewed coffee to give it a hint of mocha flavor. It's delicious and so easy!

If you are a chocoholic, this frosting is for you! I used this recipe to frost Cream-filled Cupcakes from this site and I was disappointed with how stiff it turned out. It wasn't creamy enough to pipe on the cupcakes from a pastry bag without adding more milk. Other than that minor alteration, the frosting complimented the cupcakes well.

Wow. Great chocolaty, creamy frosting. So easy. Family loved it. This recipe covered the "four egg yellow cake" from this sight in a 13x9 pan perfectly. Will use again.

This is great tasting chocolate frosting! I used half and half instead of evaporated milk. Other than that change, I followed the recipe exactly. There was just enough frosting to frost the top and sides of a 2-layer cake. It wouldn't have been enough to frost the inside but I made a Boston Cream pie so I had pastry cream for the middle which worked out well.

I LOVE this frosting! For once, the ratio of wet to dry ingredients was perfect. I used half and half instead of opening a can of evap milk. I ended up with exactly the right amount to frost my batch of 18 cupcakes. This is by far the best frosting recipe I've tried. Thanks!

This recipe was a hit with my entire family! The only change I made was to use half-n-half instead of milk, because I had it and needed to use it up. I have used this recipe twice in the past week. It's a keeper!
