Great frosting! Instead of opening a can of milk, I took one cup of milk, and reduced it on the stove with 1.5T of instant coffee powder. After reducing the coffee/milk, I strained it, cooled it, followed the recipe, and enjoyed a supurb frosting.

I knew this was a good recipe when my husband (who only likes store bought frosting) tasted it and said "You bought this HERE??" (We're in West Africa, no Betty Crocker at the stores). Took cupcakes with the frosting to coworkers and one said "OHHHH it smells American!" Everyone was so happy with the classic "American" taste and texture.

This has to be the best chocolate frosting I have ever tasted!! I made it yesterday to put on my birthday cake, and my kids swore that I had used a container of frosting from the store! Absolutely delicious....the only thing I did differently was to substitute half-n-half for the evaporated milk. It made more than enough to frost a 9x13 cake, with some left over even. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful frosting recipe....it is going in my 'use often file'!! :)

This is a wonderful light frosting! Some frostings, chocolates in particular, then to be a bit heavy for my tastes but this one is perfect. I followed there recipe to the letter and am loving the results.

I'm on the beginner level of making cakes... and this frosting is great! I'm putting it on my son's 2nd birthday cake to look like "dirt". It's not too sweet, but nice and creamy/fluffy. I changed the recipe to make it 1.5 batch. I made a 9" round 2 layer cake and wanted enough to fill it. I filled it lightly, and could have put more frosting on the sides than I did. You won't regret using this frosting!!

This was good but a little too sweet for my likings. It was a hit with my family. I used it to frost a chocolate cake for my dad's birthday.

I made this frosting to go with "Too Much Chocolate" cake from this site. As I was frosting two 9 inch cakes, I did double the recipe per other reviews. My husband who always scrapes off frosting from cake was eating the frosting from the bowl. The silky texture made frosting the cake a breeze and made for a beautiful presentation. Rave reviews from everyone and this is my new go to frosting recipe.

Amazing frosting! Smooth and very chocolatey. I used this recipe with strawberry and raspberry crepes but I added a little more milk to make my own sort-of homemade Nutella. In fact, it was better than Nutella! Will be making this again...and again and again!

This was an easy recipe to put together, which was one of the best aspects of it. The flavor was a little too sweet for me, so I added more cocoa to tone it down a little. I think the cocoa made it somewhat gritty, though it was somehow still creamy. I think that next time I might dissolve the cocoa in a little bit of hot water. Hopefully it won't be too runny since I will be using extra cocoa to decrease the sweetness.

This frosting was so good and easy to make! It also has such a smooth creamy taste w/o the sugar grittiness of other frostings!! I made it with 2% milk instead of evaporated (as other people have) and it was just a little wet. Rather than add more sugar, I just left it as it was and mixed in some chopped pecans and used it for the brownies I had just made. It's a great frosting and everyone loved it!!

This was very easy to make. I didn't sift the powdered sugar but I think that was a mistake. I would recommend doing that. I also added 2 extra tbsp of evaporated milk due to the frosting being so thick and stiff. The flavor was good. Not the best but it did okay for the moment. Will keep looking.

Perfect!I definitely agree with the other reviews that this tasted better than the canned icing. I followed the other by measuring the icing first and then sifting. I also added more cocoa (instead of sugar) to get the right consistency. Instead of adding just vanilla, I added half vanilla and half strong brewed coffee to bring out the chocolate. YUM! My girlfriends and I licked the bowl clean after icing our cupcakes. (BTW-I have no idea how some reviews mentioned their icing was runny. They may have just measured the liquids wrong.)

SO SO SO good. I was asked to create an intensely chocolate cake, and tried this frosting for it. It was amazing! Great consistency, spreads well and is firm enough for piping decorative edging. This is definitely a keeper!

Simple & quick preparation using ingredients most everyone has on hand. Like others, I used regular milk instead of the evaporated and found the end result was definitely creamy & chocolately. Perfect brownie frosting!

I thought this was a great recipe - easy to make, and easy to modify if you want different flavor options. The first batch I made as the recipe stated - the only modification was that I used milk instead of evap. milk. The second batch I added a chocolate raspberry coffee in place of a couple tablespoons of the milk, but it turned out runnier than I would have liked, but luckily I had some of the first batch left over so I mixed in. In both batches the flavor is great - I even ran out of vanilla after the first batch, but with the chocolate raspberry coffee added in, you couldn't really tell. I will definitely use this for my go-to chocolate frosting from now on! Thanks so much!!
