Delish! I sauteed the onions first and added a lot more cheese on top. Didn't disappoint. And cooked longer than recommended.

I HAVE MADE THESE A FEW TIMES. EACH TIME I MAKE THEM EVERYONE SAYS THEY ARE THE BEST AU GRATIN POTATOES EVER! I'M NORMALLY NOT A BIG FAN OF CHEESY POTATOES BUT MY HUSBAND LOVES THEM. BUT I HAVE TO AGREE THAT THESE ARE DELICIOUS AND THE BEST AU GRATIN POTATOES I HAVE EVER TASTED TOO!

I found these very greasy, even though I substantially cut down on the butter. Also, they were pretty bland; definitely needed something else. I'm disappointed because I was so sure I was going to love this.

Awesome! Just like momma used to make! (Grandma was good at lot of cooking, but she could not do things baked with cheese... nor Italian but THAT'S another story. :) ). I didn't change anything – I don't usually the first time with a recipe. I can tell tho that these would be good with cooked bacon added or to combine with cubed ham (good way to rejuvenate holiday leftovers). Five Stars!

Turned out awesome! Made this in a cast iron skillet. Did not stick. Going to thrown some bacon or cooked pancetta next time.

We microwaved the sliced potatoes for a few minutes first to cut down on oven time. That worked well. I, personally, did not think this needed additional cheese sauce. I recommend adding ground thyme to the sauce and sprinkling the top with some bread crumbs before baking.
