What a GREAT recipe! It was such a pleasant surprise to everyone that tried one. We have soy allergies in the family and this was a real treat! My husband is not a big sweets person. He was concerned about it being a sugar rush. The cake was a good balance with the filling. I frosted it with a homemade chocolate frosting as others have done. It added a nice touch and it was better than any store bought version. My kids loved them.

We all loved these; they were so fun to make and looked like they were difficult! I glazed them with "Satiny Chocolate Glaze" and that was the perfect topper. Then I used leftover filling to pipe a squiggly line on top. I used all butter in the filling. I got 30 cupcakes out of this recipe.

After reading many of the reviews, I chose the Devils Food Cupcakes from Betty Crocker, the filling from this receipe, and the Satiny Chocolate Glaze from this site - unbelievable combination! Cupcakes were a huge hit! My husband followed the recipes and just made them again and they were just as amazing as the first time! I used the handle end of a wooden spoon to make the hole and swirled it around a bit, then piped in the filling with a small ziploc with a tiny corner cut off - worked perfectly!!

Excellent! I cheated a bit by using a boxed cupcake mix and store bought icing, but I used this recipe for the filling and I was amazed at how easy and delicious it was. Now that I know how to do this, I'll make these cupcakes everytime!

These are very good cupcakes. The cupcakes came out perfect with no changes to the recipe. The filling was also very good with no changes to the recipe. Need to experiment with another frosting because it wasn't the best that I got from this website.

Good idea...but the cupcake part is not at all tasty. I followed the recipe exactly and it came out not very chocolatey nor very moist. I used my own favorite recipe for frosting and i'm dissapointed i used it to frost these cupcakes. Should have just made the ones from the box.

I would like this better if the cake was more chocolate-y. The filling was delish. I've never filled cupcakes before, but these were easy. I inserted the tube at the top and the hole was covered by chocolate frosting. Thanks!

So Good! So Easy. I used 1/4 tsp peppermint extract instead of the vanilla. Perfect for those who like Chocolate & Mint together. Very moist. I got 48 domed cupcakes. Frosted them with, Creamy Chocolate Frosting, from this site. 5-stars and more!

These cupcakes were really good, especially the filling. I liked the cake part but next time I will probably just make cupcakes from a mix. I used the Texas Chocolate frosting from this site on top. I used cake flour instead of regular in the recipe and it was fine. I also ended up cutting a cone shaped hole out of the top with a knife, putting the filling in there and then frosting over the top, to get a little more filling inside, since that's the best part. I can see why this recipe is a crowd-pleaser!

This rating is in the middle because the filling was fantastic...a 5, but the cupcake mix was not so great... probably like a 1 or 2. I will make again for special occasions since they take so long to make, but will use a different cake recipe or mix the next time around. Frosted with fudge icing wich turned out really well. Kids loved to help make these!

These were great! The filling is delicious!! I used a cake mix for the cake and piped the filling in from the top. I do need to work on my filling technique a bit . . . think I used too small of a tip. I didn't remove any cake to fill them, just stuck the tip in and squeezed the filling in. Worked great, will work even better with a larger tip next time (this time I used a 10-worked pretty good but I like the filling so much that I wanted more in each cake). Used chocolate frosting and decorated the tops with leftover filling. Thanks!!

Just to be clear, I'm not reviewing the cake part of the recipe, just the filling and the idea of a technique for applying it inside. The cake you use doesn't matter. The filling and technique will work with any cupcake recipe. The filling is light and sweet. Instead of milk, I used coffee creamer and the texture and flavor were just perfect. As for putting the filling into the cupcakes, I went from the top instead of breaking the bottom paper. I was going to frost them anyway, so it didn't matter that a dot of white filling showed through the top. I used a pastry bag with a #22 tube. Buried the tube all the way to the coupler into the cupcake. I squeezed until the cake started to expand, then eased off the pressure as I withdrew it. Worked very well, and it's infinitely easier and faster than cutting the core, removing it, filling and replacing the core. No need for such gyrations. If you have cake decorating equipment, I recommend this time-saving technique.

These are well worth the time! The cupcakes are moist even without the cream filling and beyond fabulous with it. I halved the recipe and frosted them using the Creamy Chocolate Frosting recipe from this site. They were gobbled up quickly. Yum! I look forward to trying these with white cake and strawberry filling.

Excellent just as written. I loved everything about these cupcakes. The texture was just dense enough to provide a good contrast to the filling. I used Ghirardelli cocoa for just the right amount of chocolate flavor: not too sweet. The batter will seem to be very runny but bakes up perfectly. The filling also seemed to be a bit stiff, but is perfect inside the cupcake. I also filled the cupcakes from the top, however I used a medium pastry tip and filled until I saw the top of the cupcake rise...it couldn't have been easier! I topped them off with the "Hard Chocolate Glaze" also on AR...perfect! Lots of compliments and requests for the recipe. I'll never make a plain old boring cupcake again!

After reading all the other reviews, I thought this would be tasty and easy to make. The cake batter recipe was ok, but very dense. I think that was the problem when it came to filling them. The filling just sat in the little hole I carved out. I think next time I will try just a boxed mix, and fill them from the top as other people had suggested. The filling was wonderful. It was very creamy and sweet. I did not get far enough to ice them, I was too frustrated that they were not working out well.

These were good. I loved the filling idea. The cake wasn't my favorite chocolate cake recipe though it is good. The filling was good. I made with the saintly chocolate glaze from this site. Next time I will use the filling and the glaze recipes and try a different cake. I filled them from the top since you can't see the hole once you frost them.

I made a version of these cupcakes the other day, and they were AMAZING!! My kids loved them! I only used the filling from this recipe (YUM)and Hershey's "Perfectly Chocolate" Chocolate cake. It worked beautifully - it's moist & fudgy.... Then I slathered Satiny Chocolate Glaze (recipe from this site) all over the tops and decorated with squiggles made from the leftover filling. DEEEE-LISH!!!!
