Easy to make. Wow! not too sweet, creamy and very flavorful. This is a fabulous recipe, as good as any restaurant. I halved it and frosted the middle and top of Sam's famous carrot cake and I am going to try it next on Downeast Pumpkin bread. Thanks Janni.

I took the advice of another reviewer and adjusted the ingred as follows: 8 oz cream cheese, 1/4 c butter, 1 t vanilla, 1.5 c powdered sugar. Frosted a 9x13 carrot cake perfectly. Tasted wonderful. Thanks for sharing!

The original recipe was good, but too "creamcheesey" for my tastes (I know some people who aren't in to sweet frosting that would love it though). I only gave it 4 stars because of this. I made some modifications, including adding another teaspoon of vanilla and another cup of sifted sugar, and would give it 5 stars with the modifications. I also refridgerated the frosting for 30+ minutes then pulled it out and re-whipped it because it was so hot in my house... Great recipe!

I used 1 8oz package of cream cheese and left all other ingredients the same, and it was great. Still really cheesy!

I used this cream cheese frosting for the first time to add a little extra to my Father's Day baking.I have to agree it is very creamy. I did halve the recipe, but used 16oz of cream cheese for more taste.

This is a great frosting for the holiday's when you are baking more than one cake. I used this for my Red Velvet and my Pumpkin cake for my family's Christmas Dinner. They all loved the frosting and the cakes. Thanks to those who contribute to make allrecipes.com so great!!

Very good frosting but I add meringue powder to make the icing crust so that it can be smoothed for decorating.

As I was only frosting a bundt cake ("One Bowl Chocolate Cake III"; which is really Hershey's Deep Dark Chocolate Cake recipe that I've been making for years), I halved this cream cheese frosting recipe. I didn't add vanilla, per the suggestion of one reviewer, besides, I didn't have clear vanilla and really wanted the frosting to come out strikingly white. This recipe does not seem to taste "overly cream cheesey." And it is not overly sweet. I find that this is a happy balance between rich and subtle. If you like strong cream cheese flavor, add more, if you like sweet, add more powdered sugar. This recipe does make a lot and I'm glad I halved the recipe. I also added some milk to thin the frosting down a little, as I wanted the frosting to be a little thin to slide down the edges of the bundt cake a bit. This frosting recipe as written will yield a thick enough product to beautifully frost just as in the picture submitted my Janni. Love this recipe and will definately be using it in the future. Thanks for the submission.

EXCELLENT FROSTING! I put in an extra cup of powdered sugar like others had suggested! The frosting thickened just right! I used this recipe for my Red Velvet cupcakes. My boyfriend took it to his retreat and they LOVED it! They couldn't believe the frosting was home made!
