INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sifted confectioners' sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cream butter and cream cheese until fluffy; gradually blend in sugar. Stir together flour and salt; stir into creamed mixture. Cover; chill dough several hours or overnight.
  2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  3. Divide dough into thirds. On lightly floured surface, roll out dough, one section at a time. (Keep the other sections refrigerated.) Cut out with cookie cutter to desired shapes.
  4. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until firm, but not brown, about 12 minutes. If desired, sift additional confectioners' sugar over slightly warm cookies.

This was quick and easy, and with a little icing the cookies are delicious! The cookies are nice and moist while still being a little flaky - kind of like pastry dough.

This is a great recipe for cut out cookies! I made these and iced them with the new Whipped frosting from a can (which was really quick and easy) for Valentines Day and took them to the office. They were a huge hit!~ I was told, You have to make these again. I also made them for my picky boyfriend, who only likes really plain vanilla type cookies, and he enjoyed them too. Will definately make these again and again! Just be sure you chill the dough really well before making the cut-outs. Thanks for the great recipe!

These cookies have a good flavor but shrink a lot while baking!
