This was a really nice, easy, basic recipe. I had some fresh cranberries that I had enthusiastically bought on sale and didn't feel like making anything too heavy, so this was perfect. I made a few small modifications to suit my tastes. I added the zest and juice of a small orange to the cranberries once they'd been halved, as well as about half a teaspoon each of ground ginger, cinnamon and freshly ground cardamom. I then microwaved this mixture for 2 minutes and let it sit while I prepared everything else. Was really fast and easy to prepare, turned out lovely, light, delicate and a lovely mixture of flavors. Made the brown sugar sauce exactly as described and it was delicious as well. I thought afterwards that I could have used orange juice for that instead of water and that would have been nice too.

This is an excellent old fashioned style pudding, not like the powder + milk type that you buy in the stores. The sauce really adds the perfect touch. Next time I'm going to try making it with honey for a diabetic in our family.

I keep cranberries in the freezer nearly all year. I thought I'd do a practice run for the holidays with this recipe, and I loved it. I will definitely be making this again then. Moist and sweet/tart, it is a lovely winter dessert. The brown sugar sauce finishes it perfectly. It did take less than 40 minutes to bake, but that could just be my oven. BTW, Janet is right, this is a bread pudding type-dessert, not a creamy pudding.

I haven't made this yet, but I wanted to boost its rating because the other reviewer seems to have mistaken this recipe to be a jello-type pudding when it is actually a bread/Christmas pudding, which is supposed to be more like a spongy bread. Given that expectation, I am willing to bet it turns out quite nicely!

This is more like a cranberry bread or dense cake than a pudding. The sauce is ok but it doesn't do alot for the "cake". Not a keeper for me
