OH EMM GEE!! I don't even like sugar cookies and I could eat an entire batch in one sitting. I didn't have any cream of tartar and instead used 3/4tsp baking soda to go with the 1tsp baking powder. Other than that, I did not change a thing. I will make these cookies again and again and again!!!!

These cookies were fantastic! I couldn't find cream of tartar at the store so I took another reviewer's suggestion, and used 3/4 tsp baking soda instead. I also rolled these in cinnamon/sugar before baking but that's the only difference! My husband said they might be the best cookies he's ever tasted.

I was really excited about this recipe after reading the reviews. I followed the recipe exactly and they were tasteless. I realize that I used unsalted butter, maybe this is why. I feel like the dough needed more moisture and they just lacked something. They came out oddly shaped also.

LET ME TELL YOU HOW GOOD THEY ARE AS I AM SITTING AT THE COMPUTER EATING MY 4TH ONE!!!!!!! I have been searching for a sugar cookie recipe like this one for who knows how long. I've tried a lot of them out there and this one is by far 2nd to NONE!!!!! I give this recipe 5 stars for the dough alone! and (5)***** more for the turnout! My 2 year old stole mine while I went to get some milk! A side note that I want to add is that I let my butter(margarine)sit on top of the stove while the oven preheated to help it soften. I didn't have any problem with crumbling at all. Also, I didn't have any vanilla extract so I did substitute it with 1 tspn regular kitchen syrup... yes the kind that you use for pancakes :-) It worked excellent! Ok so for skeptics, please stop browsing and try this one, I just registered today just to give this recipe a 5 * review!

These are really good, made from scratch but easy to make cookies! I bake a lot of cookies, and these did not disappoint! I rolled some in sugar, some in sugar/cinnamon/dash nutmeg. (I used margarine - what I had on hand) The options are endless! Thanks for the great recipe, Pam. A keeper.

I substituted the 1 tsp cream of tarter for 1 tsp vinegar. I needed to bake mine a little longer than the time stated. Tasted yummy. Will make again.

I liked these cookies a lot. My kids didn't care for them. My son said they were not that sweet. They were very easy to make. I softened the butter a little and I didn't have any problem with them being crumbly as others stated. Mine were actually chewy. This is one of the better sugar recipes that I have tried.

Great cookies...even if you misread the recipe and use egg whites instead of yolks..Ha.Ha. I did add some additional flour to make them easier to roll/drop since the yolks made the dough a bit sticky. They were still eaten up without any problem. I did make a batch the correct way after figuring out my mistake. They were wonderful.

What a FANTASTIC, easy-to-make, simply wonderful cookie recipe!!! I wish I could give it more than 5 stars! I changed nothing with the recipe/directions and never will (unless rolling them out for cutters). This will be the only sugar cookie recipe I use from here on out. THANKS PAM!!!! (now if I can only keep enough around so my husband can try them when he gets home...)

This cookies were simple and delicious. My kids said they are the best sugar cookies they have ever had. I thought they tasted great. They do crumble real easily and that is why I rated a 4. I put a slice of bread in container to keep them moist. Will definitely make again.

These were amazing!!!! A few hours after the cookies came out of the oven, my family finished them off! The cookies didn't actually crack (with the first tray I waited for them to and they came out burnt) but they were yummy all the same!!! I got many compliments and pats on the back =)

First off - these cookies are awesome! Crispy outside, chewy inside! BUT...I would recommend softening the butter. I also used salted butter because the recipe didn't have salt in it. I am not sure what Cream of Tartar actually is, or if has salt in it but either way the cookies turned out great!
