I've made this a few times and it's always a hit. I usually add more seafood like thawed shrimp or extra crab meat to bulk it up, and I use fresh garlic. I made individual bread bowls with small French rounds for a dinner party and they were certainly impressed.

I have requests for this dip every time I get together with my family. The new saying is "and Steph is bringing the crab dip" Thanks so much for this recipe. I did want to note you can use low fat cream cheese and mayo and it still tastes just as good!! I also add a little hot sauce and worchestershire.

Excellent! My husband, his friends, and his parents all loved this dip. I did tweak it to our tastes though after reading the other reviews. I added chopped garlic instead of the powder, lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, and parmesean cheese. I will be making for any special occasion!

This is 5-star! I did take some of the suggestions and used 1T Old Bay Seasoning, 1/4C Colby Jack, and fresh crabmeat so my rating is with those small changes. It all starts with the base though!

This crab dip is the best! I substituted a shallot for the onion, added white cheddar, old bay seasoning, chopped artichoke hearts and used a 1lb can of Phillips crab meat and it was delicious!!!!!!

UMMMMMMMM Good. The only thing I added was Old Bay Seasoning because I love it on seafood. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing.

This is OK, not great. It's MUCH better with green onions instead of the onion, I tried it both ways. Don't spend the money on fresh crab - I did and most of it wasn't eaten anyway.

Husband and 24yo son liked this very much. I scaled recipe to 8 servings. Like others, I added old bay seasoning (2 tbs) and minced garlic (2 tsp). I used canned crab meat. It will be made again. Thanks for the recipe and the suggestions. A winner in this house.

This is one of my husbands favortites, and he is quite the picky eater. It has become a must at every party we have, and at times, he'll want to make it as dinner! The nice thing about the recipe for parties, is that you can make the dip the night before and store it in the 1 quart baking dish in the fridge over night. Then, when it's time for the party, just pop it in the oven. Very easy, and delicious!

I have made this recipe twice. Once with handpicked crab Maryland blue crab (for family) and another with dungeoness crab (for office xmas party). Both times it came out fine after I added a little extra (1 c. mozzarella cheese, 1/2 c. grated parmesean, Old Bay season to taste)! I only gave it four stars because I think you have to add a little to it or else its pretty bland.

Pretty good! I added Old Bay like other reviewers suggested, and used 4 fresh packs of crab from Chicken of the Sea and it turned out great! They dont mention to drain the crab, but I suggest you do! My dip was a little runny.

Very bland, however I will say that individuals who have never had fresh crab meat may like it but I'm from Maryland so I found the can crabmeat to be tasteless.

Fantastic!!! Even my kids love it. We are big garlic fans, so instead of the powdered garlic, I mince several cloves of fresh garlic.

Very impressive presentation, easy and cheap w/imitation crab. Added parsley for visual interest, and would do so again.

I made this over the summer and the only changes I made was I used the imitation crab meat & I used a dash of worchestire sauce & 1tsp of Zatarin's seasoning in the mix...besides that ...it was great! I gave it a 4 because at the potluck...people didn't ooh & ahh over it....
