Good, but very bland. The meat and veggies were delicious, but gravy really had no flavor. I followed the directions exactly.

very good!!! i did use a little beef flavored soup base with the water. i usually do my roast in a crock pot but no more. this was the best roast i have ever made.

easy to get started for a busy work day. I cut my roast in to 4 pieces just for easier serving. I left out the turnips (just dont lke them) but followed pretty much everything else. Loved it and so did my boyfriend and neighbor

This is one of my favorite recipes. I only added two extra things to mine which is a teaspoon of dill and used beef cube for more flavor to the water. Great meal and very filling especially for a husband and a growing teenager. Thanks for sharing!!!!

This was very good. I let the meat soak in a bottle of Guinness for about an hour. Then floured and browned and returned to beer bath while onions and garlic sauteed. Returned to Dutch oven with the beer. there was no need to make gravy, when finished it was nice and thick. Very good!

I must admit, I used Clarified butter rather than Crisco, but otherwise pretty much followed the recipe. It turned out very well. It was nice to find a recipe that didn't call for canned soup.
