This is actually Paula Deen's recipe except someone has reduced the salt by 1/4 tsp and added 1/2 cup flour to the "original" recipe. So, for those of you who said it is not salty enough or too floury tasting, this may be the reason!
Of the two recipes, I prefer using Paula's original recipe with also used a different method of mixing which I prefer. Check out http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/anne-burrell/beignets-recipe.html.
I am also going to try my mother's old recipe that we used when I was a kid again and see how it compares - it is a bit different in that it uses quite a bit more salt, half the amount of sugar, and just whole milk instead of water and evaporated milk. Loved those as a kid, so eager to compare recipes. Will post again....
