This is a great for the crockpot!! I add some chopped up cabbage with the meat to add flavor. I also add fresh string beans with the rest of the veggies! I've never used beer but I plan on trying it!

Very fine dish. I covered the brisket with the kraut and everything turned out very well.

The corned beef was the best we'd ever had. I'm usually not a fan and hubby is a corned beef connoisseur. We had lots of people over for this. The only thing everyone agreed on, besides how wonderful the beef was, is that the vegetables tasted like straight guiness. Not very good.. I suggest doing them seperately in chicken broth. They were the only things left on the plate.. Thank you for sharing the recipe for amazing beef!!

Definitely a simple no fail recipe. I hogged all of the leftovers to myself. I would add more potatoes and carrots next time.

very basic and easy for those who have never made corned beef before, I did add some extra spices, like peppercorns and garlic as well as a can of beer with the water. Was a hit, thanks.

Im not Irish but have had Corned Beef and cabbage many times and this is the best way to do it. It doesnt come out stringy or too well put together just right in the middle. You really have to boil Corned Beef. Im going to do it this way for now on. Thanks!

I do not, repeat DO NOT like corned beef and cabbage. I truly enjoyed this dinner. I followed the suggestion of another reviewer and finished off the brisket in the oven with a ketchup, brown sugar, cider vinegar, mustard sauce. WONDERFUL! Also, I used chicken and beef stock only.

I actually didn't make the corned beef portion of the recipe (was going to be gone the 17th and didn't want the burner on so long on the stove, plus I wanted to use beer) but did follow it for what types of and how to cook the veggies. I made my corned beef in the slow cooker, added the bubbling juices to a stock pot and then took up the recipe, and it worked really really well. Thanks for sharing!

This was a very easy and delicious way of preparing corned beef. I used "flat cut" per the meat dept employee suggestion, as opposed to "point cut" (which is more fatty, and what I've used in the past). This may be why we liked it so much more than the other recipes I've used, but I'll definitely use this recipe again... and more often than just on St. Patricks Day!
