great recipe. Had to triple it as I was making it for a crowd. Put the meat in roasters to cook and added beer. When it was time for the veggies I added caraway seed as it seems to make the cabbage have less gas if you know what I mean. Also had to cook the carrots and potatoes longer as I had so many.

I have been making this for years. I also add a bottle of beer. I also use new potatos and celery, carrots, onion, fresh snap peas, fresh garlic, black pepper corns, mustard seed, dill seed, and lemon juice. Red pepper and bell pepper. I can eat this for days. I don't trim the fat. The fat is one of my favorite parts. This is one of the very few recipes I make that I am not fat conscious about. This and steaks. I can eat this soup for days 6 times a day!

Great recipe. added tracey hint: I take the corned beef out and while the cabbage carrots and pot's are cooking in the liquid, I put the brisket in the oven for 30 minutes with this sauce that I combine on the stove until smooth. 1/3 cup of brown sugar,2 tblsp of butter tlbs. of prepared mustard, 1/3 cup of ketchup, and 3 tblsp of apple cider vinegar. I combine these ingredients till smooth, then pour over the brisket while the veggies are cooking. 30 to 40 mins. at 350 will do it. Hope you like it, all of my friends who hate corned beef will only eat mine!

Just so-so. Seemed rather bland. Perhaps adding additional seasoning and cooking in beer would have helped.

This was by far the best corned beef and cabbage recipe I've ever tried. I know some people have a thing about tweaking the recipes in here - sorry! I did it, too. I added chopped carrots and onions to the liquid at the beginning. I also added some peppercorns and bay leaves and 1 can of Guinness Stout. Everything else I did the same. I've never cooked all the veggies in the pot with the corned beef before and they turned out so flavorful I'll be doing it that way from now on. Thanks, Laria, for giving us a great recipe!

This recipe was so easy and the results were delicious! We cooked the corned beef in a mixture of half beer, half water and the meat came out really tender. We also added turnips and parsnips with the other veggies. We served the meal with Jack Daniel's horseradish mustard. This will be our new St Patty's Day tradition!

This recipe is spot on! I had a flat cut corned beef that was just under 3 lbs. I added 2 tablespoons of mustard seed, approx. 12 peppercorns, 2 bay leaves, and a sprinkling of dried sliced garlic. Then I added two bottles of beer and water to slightly cover the beef and the seasoning packet on top. I set the timer for the time alloted, but found out that my husband wasn't coming home on time. I just turned it down so it was slightly simmering and added potatoes and cabbage accordingly when he came home. I made the horseradish sauce mentioned in an earlier review. It was the best ever! Thanks for sharing, Laria!

This was so easy! I don't actually eat meat but my family does. I have never tried Corned beef let alone cooked it. I did marry an Irishman who loves corned beef and cabbage. My husband and kids loved it!!!! Thank you!

Can't go wrong. Basic, easy recipe. I did add 8 cloves of garlic and 2 bottles of beer (for 5 lbs of meat). Thanks for keeping this so simple. Less is more sometimes.

Great recipe. Just like I used to have when I was younger. The only change I made was to use yellow potatoes instead of the red.

This was one of the easier recipes for CB&C that I have tried and it did not disappoint! My brisket did not have a spice pack so I added 1.5 teaspoons of pickling spice and 3 bay leaves. Cooked 4 lbs for 3 hours - took it out to set while I cooked the veggies and cabbage. Can't wait to try the leftovers! Thanks for the great recipe.
