THE comic strip Maggie and Jiggs inspired me to serve this meal. Whenever Maggie asked Jiggs what he would like her to cook, he answered, 'Corned beef and cabbage.' Everyone loves this mild dip. Chopped dried beef adds flavor and texture. Serve with plain bagels cut into bite size pieces.

When chopped, dried beef gets sauteed with such rich ingredients as cream cheese, sour cream and white wine, the results are a meltingly rich dipper--add pecans and quick oven time and you get a nice crunchiness, too.
