INGREDIENTS

  • 1 (16 ounce) package pasta
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 onion, finely diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 1/8 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1/4 tablespoon dried basil

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large pot with boiling salted water cook pasta until al dente. Drain.
  2. Meanwhile, in a large pot cook ground beef with water over medium heat. Once beef has cooked, remove excess water with a spoon. Allow some liquid to remain to enhance flavor. Add tomato sauce, celery, green bell pepper, and soy sauce. Cook for 10 minutes. Add garlic, oregano, and basil to taste. Simmer for 10 to 20 minutes.
  3. Serve meat sauce over drained and cooked pasta.

I did not like this at all. It was very bland.

I hate to say this, but this is the worst spaghetti sauce recipe I have ever tasted... It was VERY VERY bland, and WAY too much bell pepper for this size recipe. Needs more tomato paste, salt, pepper, Italian Seasoning, and more oregano, basil, garlic and less soy sauce.

I am sorry to say that I did not find this recipe all that flavourful. It had all the right stuff, but still tasted bland and uninteresting. I think what it needed was a helping of tomato paste to help enhance the flavour. I am going to give it another try and see what happens.
