Congo bars are always a hit at my house. I'm a chef and I love making this for my kids! Just a few tips for those who think they are raw when they come out. Just remember they are supposed to look underbaked in the center. The softer the better. Don't over-cook them, stick to the time frame given. They will dry out more and more as they sit out of the oven and are best eaten warm. Hope this helps!

YUMMY!! IT'S PERFECT JUST THE WAY IT'S WRITTEN. I MAY CONSIDER ADDING BUTTERSCOTCH AND OR PEANUT BUTTER CHIPS NEXT TIME

This came from my Mom years ago, from an old church cookbook. When I make them I think of my childhood! They are so good.

I hate to rate like this but there is something wrong in this recipe. I have made these for years. I was being lazy and didn't want to hunt down my recipe so I made these. Yes, batter was stiff. Doesn't have good flavor though. Very disappointed.

Excellent! My Mom used to make these over 60 years ago. I had lost the recipe, and was so glad to find it here. Don't know anyone who doesn't like these.

My son and I made these for the first time and they were wonderful and hearty. We substituted the chocolate chips with butterscotch chips and the taste was amazing. We will definitely make this many times!

These are super yummy. My momma used to make them with butterscotch morsels. And, she added raisins too. :)

OK but tasted kind of dull, like flour also very dense. I think way too many chocolate chips, Probably won't make these again.

This was the best recipe I have found so far. I did add flour and eggs alternately and made sure to beat well after each addition. It is really hard to tell when it is done, maybe that just comes with practice. Chewy, good. I'd like to try making a thicker bar but I don't know if it would turn out.
