Just made this and looks great! I would say that if you are using a regular size trifle bowl, it seems like a lot. I only used half the recipe.

I made this for Thanksgiving and it was so good! It makes a ton so I wouldn't make it unless you have a lot of people to feed, and they're not kidding about the punch bowl part. I really did have to make mine in my punch bowl because my trifle dish wouldn't have held half of it!

There is a difference in a punch bowl and a trifle bowl. I didn't try the recipe yet but reading others' comments it sounds delicious.

I halfed the recipe and it was the perfect size for my Pampered Chef trifle bowl. So simple and looks so pretty. I served it with cinnamon ice cream for Christmas dessert. Everyone loved it!

I made this for a church function and it got rave reviews. I also used only 5 cups of milk so the pudding was a bit thicker. Does make a lot of dessert.

I am not the apple fan in the family but my hb and son are and they loved this. As it was, I cut the recipe in half and still had leftovers. I used cinnamon caramel apple dip instead of caramel sauce and I think the cinnamon was a little overpowering. I also used angel food cake cut into pieces and it did not get soggy. Next time I will use the caramel ice cream topping as suggested in the recipe. This would also be good substituting bananas instead of apples.

I chose this for my twin sons' birthday party because I wanted to use ingredients that I had on hand. All we can say is, WOW! I scaled down the recipe somewhat (it does make 42 servings in its full version!) and I had on hand a cinnamon swirl cake, so I used that. The cinnamon swirl cake is definitely the cake to use! Its rich flavor enhanced the apples even further than the spices in the recipe do. We absolutely loved it, and now it will become a "must-have" dessert.

This recipe does make a colossal amount of food! It was more than I needed, but everyone loved it and I plan on making it again for another get together with friends. I will definitely scale it back a bit. I also only used 5 cups of milk as recommended and the pudding was the perfect consistency.

This could feed an army! Perfect for a big potluck. I used only 5 cups of milk to make the pudding a bit thicker so it wouldn't make the cake too soggy, and used only 1 big tub of Cool Whip. Do not omit the apple pie spice. It kicks up the pudding flavor!

Caramel & apples what else do we need? When making a trifle I always use less milk than it calls for so I have a "stiffer" pudding, the cake doesn't get soft as fast. And I don't see why caramel wouldn't work wth peaches. how about chocolate & cherry pie filling

I don't know in what kind of world one lives in that they can fit this recipe in a trifle bowl, but the massive amount of trifle that this makes doesn't impede the awesome flavor. I don't particularly care for apples, so I am trying to think of a way to adapt it to peach pie filling. However, as far as apples go this gets a huge 5 stars. The pudding mixture was great and I toasted my pecans before putting them in. Thanks for the great, big, awesome recipe!
